Adding second clown

I've had my ocellaris female for about 4 years now and she spends her day swimming in and out of about 5 RBTA that are on one rock column. I have a breeder box with a small ocellaris floating near her and she doesn't seem to care that it's there.
I'm going to give it a week then release the small clown and keep my fingers crossed. Will the larger female kill it immediately? Should I be doing anything different? Tank is a 180 so there is plenty of room and rock to hide in.

Thanks.

A week might be a long time. You might as well release it and hope for the best. A day, a week or a month in the box won't make a difference. There's always a chance it won't work out. There may be some aggression initially but it should work out.

I'd release now and see how it goes. I've never had a problem pairing clowns, well just once with maroons, but they are a different story.

Ok...took everyone's advice. I released the smaller one, he immediately went to the large one and she chases him away from her anemone but never chases him far nor does she make direct contact with the small one. Maybe things will work out after all.

Just added a TINY Black Ice to my year and a half old female black ice. I tend to always introduce fish at dusk time in my tanks so they can kind of hide through the night if they need to. At first there was some minor squawking. By morning both were in the H. Mag together.

Wow...it was pretty easy. Small one still hasn't taken to the anemones yet, but it seems like it wants to. I'm happy they get along is such a small amount of time...tried this once before and was not successful. Thanks for the advice!

....spoke too soon! All was well until the lights went out, it's as if this fish hasn't been in the tank all day. The large clown became agressive and won't let him near her. What changed from the day to the night? Hopefully it makes it to the morning.

It's normal. Or do you think a decent lady lets a guy she only met hours before sleep with her in her bed :lol2:
The female of my first percula pair still kicks the male out at night and they are together for at least 10 months. During the day they hang out together all the time, even in the flowerpot, but as soon as the light goes out she kicks him out to sleep in his spot under the skimmer pump. Seems she is one of those "no sex before marriage" kind of gals :D

Ok...good to know. I looked this morning and the small male is just swimming by her anemone while she is sleeping. Guess they worked things out again .
