Adding snoflake to tank with perc?

Hello. I have a perc in my 28g nano, was. Curious to see if adding a snoflake would be ok or would he be teritorial towards. Has been in take for 1.5 years. Still small to medium size. Would a smaller one be better or bigger if so? Thanks for any help.

I would go with a larger specimen than you currently have in case you have an issue with your clown being aggressive. Good luck!

I wouldn't, a larger specimen means that it's more likely to be a female, and two females will invariably fight, and one will end up dead. In a large size tank it'd be different, but not a 28g.

I'd rather get a small one, hope that it's a male, and that it'll pair up with your Perc.

I would also go with a know juvenile. You clown after 1.5 years maybe a female. Add another female will be disaster in a 29 g tank. Even if it is not a female, since it is there for a long time, it will more likely to put up a huge fight in it's "home court". If you put in a smaller clown, it will capitulate quickly and there will not be a lot of bloodshed.

Percula or Ocellaris does not mater, they will pair up. However with Ocellaris and Percular cross pair, there is usually a bigger fight before they settle. I have a larger Snowflake and smaller Onyx percula, bother juviniles, together for about a year before the Onyx turn female. The Snowflake did not grow as fast as the smaller Onyx so after about 1 year the Onyx was bigger. There was a huge fight for 5 days before the matter settle. Th Snowflake fins were all rags and with multiple body wounds. He healed quickly and now I have about 500 SnowOnyx babies that I am trying to get out of my tanks.
Huge fight like this is unheard of if you raise Ocellaris or Percula pair together from juviniles.

The dominant fish will turn female. Lone fish will also turn female. They essentialy will turn female unless supressed by the present of a female.

Yep, as Minh said.

They will turn female unless suppressed by whatever factor. Which, yeah, is why you should add a smaller male.

In the Clown world it's a lot better for two Clowns when one can easily subdue the other.

When I first read your post I was thinking a snowflake eel. As I was reading the other posts and I was couldn't figure out what everyone was talking about and why some people were encouraging you to put a eel in a 28 gallon.
