additive questions

I am doing a little research and i could use a little feed back on some questions that i have.

I am getting ready to set up my tank (details below) and i am planning on keeping mostly SPS, and i have been reading a little bit about prodibio biodigest and reef booster and Calcireef+

I am also looking at the Biokit reef. Does anyone have any experience with these? or any concerns about this product?

In my humble opinion, all are unnecessary. I've never used any though, so cannot directly answer you question.

The basics are alkalinity and calcium. CalciReef and AlkaReef might be fine for that, although they seem expensive, and I doubt that weekly dosing will be good enough for a tank with a lot of stony coral or coralline growth.

Beyond that, corals need some food and good water conditions. Some people use Prodibio or a similar product to reduce nutrients in the water, and seem happy with them. Others use vodka or other DIY ingredients, and some people don't dose anything. What's appropriate for your tank will depend on the amount of food going into the system and how well the tank can filter that food without additives. A heavy fish load might be one indicator for carbon dosing in some form, for example.
