Adee's new build

Added a DSB today

Added a DSB today

So, almost a year later....I finally added aragonite sugar fine sand to my DSB area.

So this was my "DSB" had LR and a huge floating matress of chaeto...which had to be taken out.

Cleaning 17 bags of sugarfine aragonite took the whole day, so I outsourced that part and got my gardner to do the work. 231 kilos in total.

I moved the LR and some of the chaeto to this temp sump enclosure, will put the contents into my nursery tank...still need to make some space there.

The finished product.

Tank was murky, so let the filter socks do its job, should be clear in the morning.

i love it.
Thanks Reefski!

Very nice Adee., what flow over the DSb are you using l/h?
Thanks Kinlayan, it never ends..s

My main return is a MD70 pump, i think its in the region of 6800lph. The sump is 1m wide so not sure if its ok.
I've purchased a reeflo pump thats rated at 11 000lph, my only concern there is that is will suck more water than whats able to return back down from both the DT and the nursery tank. Will cross that bridge when i get there.

great setup!
thanks mate!

Display looks very nice, Adee!

Love how Eco-friendly your lighting is..... if only I could ...........

one of my all time favorites. i am very interested in the turf scrubber and really like the way you set it up to drain into the tank.

i am hoping to emulate that set up with my next tank, sunlight in a greenhouse instead of the shaft and skylight i have now with room for the scrubber, etc.

Thanks Carl, I'm glad I'm able to give u ideas...feel free to drop me any questions. Probably the most research of yours should focus on heating/cooling. The ATS will help me as well to a point, summer for us in SA is fast aproaching. Condensation on the ceiling is a biggy as well, especially on the cold nights, electrics needs to be protected. Let me know once you have started a build thread on that, will like to follow you as you go along.

Love the blue coral growth... went from dull to blue in a few months.

Thanks, I've actually seen the same coral it even more intense in other tanks. I suppose as nutrient levels drop, so does the color changes. Been dosing potassium as well, seems to be helping as well.
