Background = big DT is 165 with sticks n zoas. Set up for a year now [doing good] And I have a 75 that I plan to tie into the DT's sump. So figure around 250+ gal including sump.

What I have now...
Bottle of Cipro 500mg
Oceanic 75g w/stand
2 X 150 mh + 4 t5s [450W] = 5.9 wpg
2 MP-10s
10g ht plus needed eqpt.

Setting up for S. Gigantea. So i'm looking at new HQI bulbs [old ones are like 18mo old.] and unsure if Pheonix 14 are ok , or would the XM 10k be better.?

And is a DSB of 4 or more inches really needed.?

Will have more questions later. But feel free to offer advice as well.

I can answer a few. Cipro is great to have on hand, but Gigantea have been responding better to Bactrim aka Septra DS- IMO. Would be great to have on hand.

A deep sand bed is not needed. Unless you plan on planting Macro-algae. Most species require a sandbed of 4-6 inches for long term success.

Set up sounds good.

Everything you have looks good but I would make sure you run some algae in the tank either in the refugium (macro algae) or an algae scrubber. I think my gig appreciates having the algae take up excess nutrients. Also I would make sure your nitrates are as low as possible, mine are zero. Interesting phosphates don't seem to bother hems as much, mine run at about .2 ppm.

Thanks Jason I currently have no NH3 or NO3. The tank is feed well also ,so IDK.
Phos is under .09 [Martini] and my little scrubber never gets much of a chance.
So I'm thinking of swapping it out for a fuge for more pods and little stuff + algae.

Gigantea thanks for the link. I'm just getting prepared first.
