Advice on flow with streams for my 180

Hello. I have a 180 gal. 72x24x24 tank. It is barebottom (HDPE - cutting board actually) and I have good flow now, but the lights dim in the house occasionally because of the number of power heads I employ  I have 6 maxijet 1200's, a Hagen 802, and my sump return is about the max of 700gph that the lifereef can pull out of the tank.

Currently, little detrius is left on the bottom of the tank, and that little bit I siphon out weekly. I have the power heads mostly on the back of the tank at various levels, so the flow is well distributed.

The total flow from the powerheads I would like to replace is just over 2000 gph (6 x @300 on the MJ 1200's and around 400gph on the 802)

What would be the best combination of Tunze Streams to get similar flow.

Thanks!

Rick

my 180 had 6 mj1200's and i replaced them with two Tunze 6100's with the 7094 multicontroller and the flow is great and the heat is conciderably less then the mj's.

How are they positioned?

How are they positioned?

Thanks for the info! How did you position the 6100's? I've never seen them "up close" so I don't know how they work with respect to "angling them" ie: can you put them on the back of the tank and angle them towards the front or do they just shoot straight ahead.

Thanks,
Rick

they are mounted on the side of the overflows in the back corners. the included brackets have about 140* of adjustment side to side and i have them pointed towards the opposite front corner of the tank. every few days i swap the 7094 between pulse mode on both pumps to 'tide' mode (with pulse) where only one pump runs at the time, this gives me different currents in the tank all the time.

Hi Rick,
I have two 6080,s in my 5ft. 170g. One on each end. I periodically turn them slightly to change the current. Keeps the bottom clean and creates lots of current in the tank. I ran them the same way in my 6ft. 225 before, but it did have some sand.

If you want some pics, I can take some for you.

That would be great. I've pm'd you with my email.

Bought two 6080s

Bought two 6080s

Hello folks. I ended up purchasing 2 6080's as controllable flow was not an issue or requirement in my 180 gal FOWLR tank.

I was just able to mount them on the lif of the tank with the Euro bracing :)

The flow is awesome, the fish can swim through it, and everyone seems happy. :p

I had ordered the suction cup mounts, not knowing if they would work with the factory mounting devices and I don't know what you're supposed to do with the suction cups. They are attached to a triangular piece of plastic - that's it.

How would you make them work?

Do you know of any Canadian dealers who handle the magnetic mounts? I know J&L Aquatics in B.C. where I bought mine don't have them.

Thanks

Rick

The suction cups aren't an option for the Streams those are only for the older style Turbelle. Suction cups on a stream would be a big mistake, too much force to hold. The magnet mounts will start coming in in a couple weeks

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks for the info, I goofed then in ordering them
