Advice on new BTA

I have had a Rainbow BTA for almost a year now. And it is doing well. Never an issue except when I first got it, it was bleached. But now looks nice green and red. It has pretty much settled where I put it.

I wanted to get another so I got a Green BTA. I first put it in the tank hoping it woudl stay in one spot...nope. lol. It has migrated to where some of my SPS are and at first it was in a spot it wasnt touching any corals. But after a few days it moved a bit and is now going to be in contact with 2 corals once the lights come on and it expands. How much damage can it cause to those corals? I know bta's are the least agressive but still concerned.

Also how long does it typically take for a roaming BTA to find it's spot?

Should I move all my SPS that are within 6 inches from the BTA?

My first new didnt cause this issue. It just stays in the same spot I first put it.

I'm not sure about the corals, but my BTA took two weeks of roaming around the tank before it settled down and stayed still, saying that it's only been two days so he may keep on moving!

Well let me see if I can describe it correctly. And get time frames right. I put him in on sunday. He moved that night to the middle of the tank and looked like he found a good spot. Foot was deep in some rock and he stayed there for liek 3 days. Then moved a little behind my rock and that was fine but then yesterday moved towards the front and has kind of stayed there for about a day now.

My experience has been that it will kill any corals the tentacles come in contact with. SPS's are especially vulnerable.

If left touching the coral for a couple days, the BTA will eventually kill the part of the coral that it is touching. Its not like coral on coral warfare, where if left overnight the damage goes far beyond the point of contact.

Ok....I guess this is what Im looking for. he may move again today....so Ill see when I get home. If still touching the corals, Ill move them tonight.

BTW,you can move them around by pointing a PH at them.
I have 3 rbta and have to do this from time to time.

How often is time to time?

The new one is the one Im worried about and moving. Especially since its about 6 inches wide. The rainbow is maybe 1 1/2 inch wide. And he doesnt care to move.

And point the PH at the foot right?
