Advice Requested - Droopy Ritteri

The pessimist in me still thinks I am going to come down and find 'a pile of goo', but, so far, treatment just 3 days in and looking better and better. Had a bit of an ammonia problem in the HT yesterday, but a 75% water change fixed that.

Although not open, mouth is very active - wonder if he is starting to get hungry. Though have a very bright light over this tank so should be OK. Rock not ideal - not flat enough - but he hasn't moved so perhaps it is good enough.
 
One interesting point. Nem came out of a tank lit by a reefbreeders photon 32. My tank, for now, uses a combo of 14K MH and TruLumen strips. HT, for now, is lit by a photon 32 - hmmn! Photon 32 is new, but I haven't had the time to put it onto the big tank - and frankly, I'm a little concerned that it won't be bright enough.
 
Continues to look better and better. I occasionally see a few deflated tentacles, but no afternoon 'pancake' deflations cycle now for two days. Me thinks two more days in the HT and he will be able to go back into the DT.

 
It does look healthier than you described.

How are the levels in this HT and the DT? Are they the same?

Exact same water quality (water changes for HT come from DT). Lighting is different - reefbreeders P32 LED on HT, 14K MH/TruLumen LED on DT. P32 fixture is new and is slated for the DT this weekend. DT more turbulent than HT. Travelling for a couple of days, but if no sign of deflate cycle I think I will put him back into the DT on Friday - that will have been 5 days without deflation.
 
Now day 5 of Cipro/hospital tank and no sign of afternoon deflation cycle. I think its back into the display tonight after the lights go out. Fingers crossed!
 
It may be a good idea to keep clowns from ritteri for a few weeks when you place it back into the DT.
I think I added clowns too early for my gig. I wished I would have waited 2-3 months to make sure gig fully adjusted to tank. Although, my gig is looking good today. I think they can irritate anemone until healthy.
 
Perhaps you are right ...... particularly since one of my clowns like to stick his snout into the anemone's mouth. However, they are already in there, so ....



Almost one day back in the DT and it is hard to believe it is the same anemone! I am optimistic that no further problems will be encountered.
 
One thing I have seen and witnessed... when my Ritteri is (ok sorry for the 1'st grade wording) doing a #2... my clowns help it along by going in the mouth and getting some of this stuff out.

They have pulled it out.. swim off the edge and drop it out of their mouth. A true host relationship.

Look at this vid. Look closely to the mouth and you will see the female come in and do some help.

Look at this one and you will see a smoke come out (YOU NEED TO BE IN HIGH QUALITY TO SEE IT) At the same time it was doing a #2 and the clowns were helping it get it out. It seems to do this about once a week, normally a week after I feed it shrimp. The scallops and flounder seem to not 'impact' it like the shrimp do.

I do not think it is zooxanthellae because it only does this after I feed it shrimp. If I do not feed it for a week or so I do not see it do a #2. I feed it once every 3 days (3,6,9,13,16,19,23,26,29) a different type each time.
 
OK Just wondered... I know it has only been a few days but had not heard anything.
 
Here is a shot of him on his pedestal rock. Now three days back in the display and no signs of any deflation. Accepts large krill with enthusiasm. Seems to be good with the LED lighting. I would estimate him to be about 10 - 12 inches in diameter.



At this point, absent some tank crisis, I think it is fair to say he has now fully acclimated. Thanks again to Minh, and others - without the cipro regimen I doubt this anemone would have survived.

Nice... can you take a video I want to see how those voyager pumps aer pushing him around. I am always looking for how others treat their ritteri's.

Mine is spoiled... so.. I know mine is happy.

Just today he was stretched out to like 18+ inches. the clowns were all over it. When the mp40's switched modes it caused it to send one arm up and touched the surface of the water. I know it was really happy then.

Just make it off your phone and then upload it to youtube works. Unless you have another provider you are using.

I find that youtube works the easiest for what I upload.

FWIW, while I actually quite like the voyager pumps, man are they big and obtrusive! Although it doesn't show in the photo, I am using a Vortech MP40 (which I love) on the far left end of the tank to provide long axis flow. When funds permit, I am thinking about starting to replace the voyaqers with the MP10s - I really like the low in-tank profile - particularly in a tank that is only 18 inches deep.
 
I have two MP40's and a third that a friend has right now.

The two are on opposite sides with a slight offset to make a flow around and collide in the middle. They are about 1/2 off axis so they make a good bit of turbulence right at the Ritteri.
