AEFW dippin gafter 2 months ?

ok well about 2 months ago i found them on one or two corals and found eggs on one of them. i threw those too out and starting dipping the corals in a new qt tank. i have dipped about five times since then all of them and havent had any worms come off nor see any damage from them on any corals. i want to put them into a new tank, do u think it is safe??. thats four dips in about a month and a half with not a single worm coming off the corals. used revive by the way.

AEFW, SchmaAEFW. I think this is an overrated problem. I had them briefly, and were easily taken care of by blowing coral off and getting wrasses. Granted I meticulously inspect my tank daily so I probably caught them early, but I think the old standard procedure of removing everything and dipping in chemicals does more harm than good. Check out my thread "Living with AEFW"

I did completely the opposite as Travis. When I found AEFW on what was a nice Purple Nana I picked up some Coral RX and went with an aggressive dipping routine. I dipped it everyday for a week, scraped the eggs off, and blasted it with a baster and then back in the tank. Every other day the second week, every third day the third week, and so for about 6 weeks. I didn't remove any of my other corals.

I would think you are fine after that length of time.

I had a few AEFW's in my nano no big deal since its just a nano with only a few acros not sure where they came from but oh well... anyways i blow my corals off every few weeks and if there are any my blue stripped cleaner wrasse and my 2 green chromis hover by the corals waiting for the lil bastard to float off for a quick lunch time snack lol.... since its a small tank with few acros its not that big of a deal to me but in a big tank yea AEFW's can be flat out annoying and devastating.

I went though the same thing I treated my tank with interceptor 3 times most of them were gone and my Hoavens wrasse took care of the rest. Now my tank is pest free!

You can put a few sixline wrasse like 3 or 4 as long as you put them in all together and dont feed them at all . you will notice there stomachs full when there not full any more there are no more flat worms for them to eat.

yeah i am gonna do one more dip and if nothing it has been two months with not a single one coming off the acros so i am gonna assume i broke thier cycle and hopefully got them before they could take hold, would be nice but i can only hope. any

No on the BNs. Yes on the others you mentioned. However, slimers are a really tough an resilient coral.

Yes, they attack millies.

IME it is not worth risking colonies on turkey basting. Approaches that controll and do not remove the pest are too sketchy for me. Also, I do not own any wrasses to assist from inside the tank. The AEFWs can do a tremendous amount of damage in a short period of time once they have an established population. They do not establish the population only on the corals but at the bases and in the crevices below the coral bases. In these areas, basters and even wrasses my not be able to control all the population.

While it is obvious that some reefers have great experiences using baster, I found systemic treatment to be the only way to irradicate the AEFWs.

Just my experince, there's always many ways to skin the cat.
