Just say these eggs on a couple of acros that are not doing so hot. I thought it was because of the old tank crash/new lights. I hope and hope and hope to god that these are not aefw eggs! Please someone tell me they are not! And if they are please tell it to me gently. I have never had these little guys and do not want to start now!

I would say, yes. If you google AEFW eggs you will see a lot of pictures of the eggs and they look just like your pictures.

To confirm, you can remove another acro that is partially bleached from your tank and after a few minutes out of water, you should be able to start to see the tiny AEFWs moving around your coral as well.

yea for sure aefw... qt all acro and start treatment...pick up coral revive and dip you will see the aefw fall off

I just puller every acro i have out of the tank to inspect them all. Since they are all tiny little frags it is very easy to look over the entire coral. Sure enough upon inspection i found 3 acros that had them on them. None of the rest had any eggs or any aefws that i could tell of. I just pulled those acros outa the tank and will be just killing them. Thanks for all of the replies. Do they stay in the water column for very long once the eggs hatch? I inspect my tank and my corals everyday especially the ones that didnt have any color and this is the first time i have seen eggs like that.

To be safe lets assume that their is an egg on your rock work that will hatch in 6 weeks. In this case you will need to dip all of your remaining acro for 6 weeks.

If you have inspected all of your remaining corals and removed any eggs then you are off to a good start. I think that you are in a good position, considering that you only have frags, to do the full 6+ weeks of dipping.

Same thing happened to me. For many weeks I was blaming myself for doing something stupid and causing my SPS to loose colour. They are definately AEFW eggs. The really pale corals will most likely not survive.

I would get all your ACROS out and blast them with a turkey baster whilst in a dip such as Coral Revive. My more stronger/healthier Acros look untouched and unharmed, no signed of blasted AEFW's at all, but when I dipped and used the turkey baster 100's of AEFW fookers fell off the corals.

I due to my stupidity of blaming myself and not believing that I could have AEFW's I have lost many frags and small colonies. All the rest that survived are in a temp tank I setup.

If the main display stays ACRO free for 5-6 weeks then the AEFW's will go extinct in the tank due to lack of food.

Good luck. You will need it!

Well I do not another tank/lights/skimmer I can use to qt the acros, but I did pull the rock out as well. I am going to keep an eye on it and if I do see them spread to my other corals I will have hunt down an extra setup. Thanks for all help. I guess I am a little lucky cause I had a tank crash when I moved that had over 30 acros in it. Since I lost all of my acros I only have about 10 frags in the tank now. Funny thing is they were all on the couple of acros that lived through the crash. Makes me wonder if I had them the whole time, but just that my Christmas tree wrasse, dragon faced pipe fish, and my mystery wrasse kept them all in check. Since I lost all of ky fish as well I have had nothing eating them.

i hate to break it to you but yes you have aefw. you will need to setup a quarantine tank and buy a good dip to kill the worms. I am in the same boat.

AEFW is not the end of the world! I picked them up when I put a new Purple Nana in my tank.

I posted a thread about my infestation and got plenty of help. I recommend that you pick up a bottle of Coral RX Pro. I paid $30 for it and it worked great for me. Fill a bucket with a gallon of aquarium water and add 30 drops of Coral RX to it. Pull all your corals and place them in the solution for 5-10 minutes. I always split the difference and soaked them for 7. Use a turkey baster to circulate the water in the bucket and direct it over the corals. Use a toothpick to gently scrape at the eggs. Once your time is up, place the corals into another bucket of water from your aquarium and use that turkey baster to rinse off the corals. Place them in a frag tank if you've got one or on a frag rack in the main tank if you don't.

Do this every day for a week, 4-5 times the second week, 3-4 times the third week, and 2-3 times for the next 4-5 weeks. Continue to monitor your corals and dip for a longer period of time if you like. The main thing is to dip corals long enough to break the life cycle of the flatworms. It worked for me and it can work for you. Good luck.

Fantastic. Thank you for some positive words. Hopefully it does not get any worse. I will continue to monitor my corals and dip them if i see their health getting worse.

Just a little update, not that people were too concerned. I have been checking my acros everyday and I have not seen anymore eggs, and the frags are actually doing really well. I have not started to see any corals lose any color. How long do AEFWs take to mature? I would imagine that they would do a great deal of harm to a 1" frag, and with that said I have not seen anything that is noticeable. I pulled out all of the rocks that the infested acros were touching, and I think/hope that this was good enough. We shall see in the coming weeks if anything gets any worse.
