Aefw?

ok so it's definitely AEFW but only sign I see is on this one coral, all the other acros in my tank are healthy looking and growing well, that being said, unfortunately this is a coral that has been in my system for awhile (1 year plus) so I have to believe they came form somewhere more recent... should I pull all the acros and start treating them all just in case they are infested as well?

It is very likely that there are more aefw on other frags as well. I recommend dipping all your acros once a week for at least 6 weeks in a row without fail. That's how I finally beat the nasty infestation I had. Some people claim success keeping aefw in check with basting and wrasses. I wanted total irradication.
I found Melafix Marine to be my dip of choice for this as it walks the line well between harsh on pests and not too harsh on corals. My acros were pale after six weeks of being dipped, but they survived and are coloring up again with polyp extension that I haven't seen in some time.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't panic and tear your whole system apart. First treat the individual coral first. Get some bayor insect killer and mix 6ml with 1L of water. Leave the coral I'm their for about 10 min, you can turkey baste the coral while in the dip to help. Then dip the coral I'm some fresh tank water and place back in the tank. Do this evey 7 days for about a month.
thanks for the input guys... I am setting up a quarantine system and will do some investigating before I decide to pull them all or not (leaning toward treating them all) luckily I just upgraded and actually just glued my acros on 2 weeks ago so none are encrusted yet, it will be pretty easy to treat them all now instead of in 6 months when I may have a larger infestation and corals are larger and more encrusted I could treat now without having to pull any rock...

baste/blast it first see if stuff comes off. if not, try to dip if nothing comes off then figure out what is going on.

sometimes its hard to see the smaller ones by just blasting them with a baster.. i found that the only sure way of knowing was to dip the coral and watch what comes off- in a white container preferably.
my dip of choice was mela fix as well. it was hard on the pests and not too bad on the coral.
i considered my whole tank infected when i noticed a couple colonies had the bite marks shown in your photo. (and subsequent dips proved it..)
i also believe that regular dips for several weeks in a row is the surest method of eradication.
And then every new acro addition to your tank should be considered suspect as well.

Dip all acros...I recomend you to use Melafix (5ml/l) during 10 minutes blasting the corals with a small powerhead. 6week treatment using a QT is a good option (my option when I had this problem), just be sure that none little piece of acro remains in DT during this period otherwise these damn plagues can survive.
