Where did you get the NaCl-free salt for Balling? I believe no one carries this product here in the US.

i'm going to be using the "balling light" method, but have not yet purchased the needed components.

fauna marin sells balling-related materials.

instead of pics, i tested out taking a video. here is my tank with the return pump finally humming along.

If it is Balling-light that you are using, you don't even need Fauna Marine products. You can get CaCl, MgCl,MgS NaHCO3 from Bulkreefsupply. They are essentially the same thing.

Btw, where do you plan to get Fauna Marin products in the US, Darklordcorals(Area51exotics)?

looking very cool...just found this build...you could call it the afex's 135g Rimless Cube no budget build...lol, i am drooling over that controller...let me know how you like it...need some feed back before i can buy that.

nice job again!!!

matt

I like it.

Do you plan on running a filter sock?

What kind of protein skimmer do you plan on running?

Are you getting a sand storm with the sugar fine sand?

yes i have 2 filter socks which i will run as needed.

protein skimmer will be an ATI bubble master 200

sand is kicking up a little, should get better once i get more bacterial growth. i may mix in a bigger grade if it becomes a problem when i buy my powerheads

just finalized my ATI powermodule order. could be here as early as next week! i hope the 4 months of waiting have been worth it :D

my bulb choices are:

3x 39W 12000K Aquablue Special T5 HO Fluorescent by ATI
3x 39W Blue Plus T5 HO Fluorescent by ATI
2x 39W True Actinic 03 T5 HO Fluorescent by ATI
1x 39W Fiji Purple T5 HO Fluorescent by Korallen Zucht
1x 39W Pro Color T5 HO Fluorescent by ATI

Are you worried about the sugar sand blowing around? I was considering putting some in my tank but I have 100x flow. You must not be planning to do SPS.

i had sugar sand with SPS in my 75 with not many problems. if it becomes a problem i plan to siphon out the top layer and fill in some larger grain.

I hope it stays put because it looks really good. I miss The City, I grew up there. I could sure use some Tadich Grill right about now. Crab season is right around the corner.

my skimmer is here, made a quick unboxing video. (click the image)

i've installed it, and it is currently breaking in. i've taken some closeup photos, which should make it onto flickr tonite. i'll post when they are ready.

Wow...looks great. I have the same skimmer and LOVE it. I think its the best in the price range.

What is your return pump sitting on? I have the same return pump too :)
