African Flameback vs Brazilian Flameback

I'm contemplating a pair of either the African Flameback (Centropyge Acanthops) or the Brazilian Flameback (Centropyge aurontonotus) for my 60 gal cube.

Any differences in behavior, aggressiveness, reef compatability? From what I could gleen from Divers Den information, the brazilian flameback would be more likely to interfere with other reef fauna. Any firsthand experience with these would be helpful.

Thanks.

I can't really comment on the differences.

I have one in my tank now. It's a large african flame back just over 3". Been in the display tank for about 3 months now. The only reef tank we can have in Hawaii is local softies. It has not touched any of my zoas or my leather coral. It is an angel though so i am expecting it to one day.

I keep mine in a 40g breeder with only a pair of yellow watchman gobies.

Thanks k3v. I appreciate the feedback.

I still would like to know more about the Brazilian fireball.

For now, I am leaning toward the African flame back.

By the way K3v, I frequently admire your stock on your site and look forward to purchasing soon. Thanks again.

I'm wanting one of these as well, though local shops just tell me not to hold my breath, as with spring and summer they are slow so don't get a lot of stock in.

Not sure which one yet though so taggeing along.

I have a trio of the African flame back. While they seem obsessed with algae, they also eat mysis and capelin fish roe. I cannot (yet) say what they might sample.

Snorvich, do you think a 60 gal is adequate size for a pair of these guys? Rest of the tank is small, peaceful gobies and a tailspot blenny.

I have both 2 Brazilian and 1 African I noticed that the brazillian are more aggressive

While my trio is in a 350 gallon tank, as long as your tank is mature with LR having algae, I feel it would be fine.

My African Flameback is 9 years old now, doing great and it grazes and eats pretty much anything i put in the tank.
Brazilian flamebacks do well also.
