Alpine decks and subs are really nice. Fosgate subs are really nice to. I had 2 10" fosgate p2's in my car and they slap pretty hard. But if ur talkin about decks I don't mess with anything but alpine.

something never change,Alpine and fosgate still kicking *** after all this year.i wish i still have my 7909 deck still the best deck i ever own.

If it's clean sound you're after you shouldn't be as concerned with the deck unless you're going for competition sound. IMO, it's more important to spend the money on nice speakers and amp. I ran some boston acoustics mids/highs and a 10" JL Audio sub with enclosure all powered by one 8 channel a/d/s amp in my previous car and it was the cleanest sounding system I've ever owned. I ran all this off a stock deck......super clean mids/highs and nice tight bass. Since you need to change out your head unit, just pick out a decent deck that does what you want and spend the extra money on a nice amp and speakers.

I can't stand rockford subs! It just sounds dirty to me. I prefer the clean bass from eclipse subs. I have a 10" aluminum cone eclipse pushing 1200 watts and it hits harder and cleaner than 2 Rockford 10's!!!

As for deck I prefer pioneer :)

May I suggest for speakers the Dynaudio three way system they require alot of power to really open up so you'll need a really hefty amp I would consider for sound quality the Butler tube driver blue car amp. It offers that warm tube amp sound. as for the head unit well I have been out of the car audio scene for alooong time, but personally I would go with a McIntosh head unit. actually thats what I have in my BMW. This might be overkill but man the sound from your car will probably surpass most home audio systems!
