AGA/Aqueon Stand - Bracing Plywood Bottom

I'd like to place a sump under an Aqueon pine stand. The bottom is a raised piece of thin plywood sitting on a couple stapled-on supports.

Any ideas on the best way to brace this? I was thinking of running a couple 2x4s along the bottom of the plywood and screwing them in from the side.

2x will work as long as they touch the floor, (for maximum support.) At least the bottom is plywood, not hardboard which is garbage.

I don't think it will be possible to have them touch the floor... there's a 2" gap underneath which won't be easily filled with standard sized lumber, and after shimming they wouldn't touch anyway. That's why I was hoping to screw in the 2x4s from from the outside, maybe adding some L-brackets if need be.

Not to knock RE's stand design, it is very sound, but a plywood box is within anyone's skill range, and stronger than will ever be needed.

Everyone thinks its my design......I just worked out the numbers to make it easier on folks. Agreed, a plywood box easy to make and as long as you keep the panels intact, is much stronger. With the only joints at the corners, its a much more structurally stable design.
