AGA Mega Overflows

Was wandering as this is my first exp. with the AGA mega overflows. In the past I have had siphon overflows or drilled DIY tanks. My question is the Mega's have the ability to adjust the return tubes up or down. What are the advantages of either direction ie.. more water fall into the overflow versus less?? I have fiddle with them but don't seem to notice much diff either way except sump level changes... Seems like a silly question but...

I would keep them higher to reduce overflow noise. unless it is quieter low but normally higher is better for noise. shorter might also mix more air in since there is more fall but if you have a good skimmer I wouldn't worry about air mixture.

the abbility to move it up and down is there simply to adjust the level in the tank. since its a universal system they dont know what height tank its going into so its adjustable. they ideal height for them is to have the nipple on top approx 1/4 inch above the over flow wall.

well the noise level was quiter with the tubes up, I have them now set
where the level in the tank is the same as in the overflows, seems to work well. As far as oxygenation from the water fall effect when in the low postion I will rely on my skimmer for that its a EuroReef RS8-1 (barely fits my bloody sump LOL)

Setting the water level 1/2"-3/4" below the inner wall will give you good sound control as well as good surface skimming. if you keep the level in the box as high as the tank, over time you will notice an oily film start to build up on the tanks water surface when viewed from a low angle. Allowing the water to drop will in effect pull this oily surface water down to the sump where the skimmer can process it.
