AI Director Beta - Who got picked? Lets talk 'Director'!

I was on the beta and used the Director from time to time but did not trust it enough to leave it hooked up when I was not home. I hooked it all up last week and checked out the IPAD app. Pretty cool but would like to be able to control the weather instantly and could not. I pre ordered the AWM and feel better having it hooked directly to the controller. When I had the Director connected it kept lossing singnal with my router and I can't chance that when I am gone. Anyone else worried abour that?

I'm from the Netherlands, and it's usb powerd. So if you buy a usb power plug or plug it in your computer. You can use it.

Running it now for 1 month without any problems

Btw, got mine today, and the usb charger is compatible with 220/240v.

picked up a couple of Hydras and Director yesterday. Me and the kid and probably the dog all seeing dots from looking at the lights and playing with the control. Now to figure local wx feature.

The local weather feature is slick. Of course, I have mine set for my city zip code, which last week we had a chance of thunder storms, and sure enough, my tank and front room had lighting. All we need now, is the thunder sound effects.

What's great about the local weather, it automatically turns on and off your lights according to the actual sunrise and sunset times.

Enjoy playing with you new Hydra's and Director.

Issues with AI Director update.

Issues with AI Director update.

I just got home today and thought I would pop into the myAI doohicky and it prompted me to update it. So I tried to, then my PC lost internet connection. My lights went dim and the Director is not responding to anything.

The myAI dookicky no longer sees my Director, and I cannot seem to get a connection with it via wifi or ethernet.

I have tried to factor reset by holding down the button for 15 seconds, but no luck.

Any advice out there? anybody else having this issue?:worried:

You may have to enable your WPS on your router again to communicate with your Director unit.

Give that a try and let us know if that gets you up and running again.

So if my director stops detecting my network, what happens to the lights? Will they continue on the schedule or just stay where they are at? I just set mine up finally and when I exited my computer my director just started blinking red...not sure what will happen to the lights.

the lights will dim, you can plug the director into any USB port that stays powered on your computer, USB port on your router or even on a cable box if you have Verizon. in the end it must be on.

I have the same question. Not sure if my connection is not strong enough but my Director kept doing that so I went back to the Controller. Could be disastrous if the lights just stay where they are when the Director quits!

Still can't get over how amazing this thing is. I'm at work and just showed a friend through my.aquaillumination.com how I can control/program my lights at home, match into light and weather conditions on a reef half way around the world...

Just blown away and to think all for just a 100 bucks!

Yes, this is also the best $100.00 dollars I've spent in a long time.

AI really manufacturers some excellent products at a realistic price point.

Thanks,
Randy

The Vega and Hydra are suppose to dim right down after 20 mins of losing signal

this is not true in my case. Mine stay at the same time when the connection was lost.

I have an issue with my director losing powering currently and not turning back on. This pauses the lights at the time when power was lost. dangerous!

That's what mine did. Haven't used it since. I ordered a AWM module for my APEX controller. If that works good I will have a Director for sale. One thing they need to do is make it to where you can start a storm from the app. People like to show people the storm and last I looked you can't do that from the Director.

Yes, I'm trying a new cable to see if it fixes the issue, otherwise its worked great.

I agree on the storm function.

ALSO they need to allow you to match local weather but not sunrise and sunset, i come home to a dark tank every day, i'd much rather have it match the weather outside but allow me to pick my sunrise and sunset times.

Just ordered several Hydras and need a controler, should I get the regular one or the Director? got several questions

1. Is a computer needed for it to be set up?
2. What happens when the internet connection is lost, does the lights shut off?
3. The IP address on my internet provider changes every couple of weeks, would I need to reprogram it to the new IP address?

THX in advance

A computer is needed for the director but not the controller except to flash the firmware.
If Internet connection is lost nothing happens to either one except you won't be able to connect to the director remotely.
When your ISP changes IP nothing will need to be done since you are not going to the director directly but via a AI website.

I have a controller for sale if interested.
