AI Hydra 26 settings

So on my 60 cube, I am running my Hydra 26 at the following settings right now..

White: 20
Violet: 40
Red: 40
Green: 40
D-Blue: 40
Royal: 40
UV: 40

Night mode I am running per AI suggestions, 1% Violet, 1% D-Blue, 3% UV

In coral acclimation mode with a 50% reduction for the next month started on Jul 23.

What do you think about those numbers? I think we started it a bit low because these corals came out of a Biocube with crappy lighting so these lights are obviously more powerful. Everything in the tank looks real happy. Frogspawn loves the light as does the Dendro. Zooanthids also look amazing under LED!

How did you come up with the number 40 across the board? And the UV for night mode might just be for looks. I would wait until corals are acclimated to play with that.

I'm not sure honestly, my buddy who works at House of Fins helped me set it up.. Possibly just erring on the side of caution? I'm posting up here to dial in the numbers to where the community/light experts thinks they should be. :D

Gotcha on the UV @ night. That's what I figured. All it really does is leave the frogspawn semi deployed and some of the green star polyp.

OK makes sense..lol
I would give these a try

Cool, will do! Thanks man.. Do you like the coral acclimation @ 50% for a month? I'm already 5 days in so the numbers are increasingly getting stronger.

Yes 50% is good, but watching your corals closely is even better. Any change to them and adjust Accordingly

I have mostly LPS in a 28g Nano Cube. I set acclimation for 6 weeks at 50% and am finally done. My settings are as follows @ approx. 10" AWL and everything is doing great, including my Acan:

UV=30%
Violet=60%
Deep Blue=80%
Royal Blue=75%
Green=5%
Deep Red=5%
White=35%

I have a graph posted on the AI Hydra post and I originally used SonicBoom's old settings file on page 69 of that post if your interested in a starting point.

Good Luck

Thanks again.. What do you do with your weather settings? Mostly in regards to the clouds.. The thunderstorms are cool but I feel like it's a novelty that if I want to show someone I will just turn it on lol..

I don't run the weather since there is no option to stop it after a certain time. I only run the clouds at 20/10

I'm really digging these hydra 26. I did raise my lights to 7" awl for no particular reason. I may raise then to 8 or 9 but then I will have to start fragging as the coral encrust over the overflow.

After your tank has been running the lights for a couple of months, when do you start to increase the numbers? Do you keep increasing them month over month or not really? Corals look to be doing well in the tank.

It's all about the corals and how they react to the light, if they look great but growth is slow, increase numbers. Know your corals and how much light they require.

Like to join the Hydra club. I ended up getting the Hydra26 and I must say it's a beautiful light.

Now I just have to figure out what would be the best numbers to go with for my tank (15gal 24x12x12) which is what I'm confused with. Everyone posts they're numbers but not everyone states the size and depth of their tank which I"m sure makes a huge difference. One persons setting at a tank with a 24" depth is not the same for another's with a 12" depth. I'm guessing is would be half?
Right now I have the light 11" off the surface and depth to the sand bed is 9.5"
Right now got various corals including SPS and would like to get more.
Any recommended levels? These are my current setting and this is with a 40% acclimation period of a month. Before this I had (2) 55W 10,000K / 03 Actinic Compact Florescent Lamps

LOL, welcome to the Hydra 26 club..lol you are correct that the depth of a tank makes a difference, if not the main difference. you have a very interesting setup., do you mean that when the acclimation period ends your lights will increase by 40% intensity? if so i would see about permanently setting intensities no more than 20% on whites, 5% UV, 10% whites, blues to your liking and see how that works.

Thanks......I think...LoL
I built this nano about 10 years ago and is sat dormant with only the pump running for circulation for the last 4 years before I revived it.

The 40% is of those current settings. If you look at the graph on the left is shows the actual % numbers.
You cay White 20%, UV 10% but you lost me as you say white again at 10%, did you mean Green/Red?

Would love to get one of those new style rimless nano tanks. Have to measure the cabinet it's on to see what would fit.

i meant no disrespect, just interesting that you have more hermits in that 15 gallon than i do in my 180..lol Sorry, i double posted the whites after looking at the graph a second time. I meant no more than 10% on whites, 5% on UV, blues to your liking, violet ~10% and see how that does.
