AI Hydra Settings Thread

Has anyone ever tried with color changes for sunrise/sunset? I feel like there would be some cool effects you could do with blending the red in particular. Like you could have an orange or red effect for a little bit each night like you often see on the coast. Anyone done anything like this?

I have not. I really do not how it would do anything for the tank, good or bad.

I thought about doing the exact same thing to see a bright red sunset or sunrise, i would imaging you would need to switch from auto to manual, then find the correct color combination to give you reddish/orange, then set that as your sunrise sunset. the color combination might be the hardest part since you need red and yellow to make orange but then need red and green make yellow.

Yeah I think you could do it with some custom points as it's ramping down. Maybe I'll have to play around with this.

def post if you get it, i would guess you need two different sets of red, you might have to go into each light and seperate them out like that..

For the last few hours I have white and uv turned down to 2 but I leave the red and green at 8 and leave my blues around 50 and violet around 20. I love it at this point, its so colorful. If you wanted more of a sunset effect I would think you could turn down the blues and green. But I wouldn't want to do too much red since people have said it grows algae. But I suppose if its just for a half hour or so it wouldn't make much difference.

Any chance you could upload this preset? :D

For Kessils (probably a similar idea for most higher end LEDs I'd think?) they say after 10 years they will be at about 75% of their original power. So they last a very long time.

so i got fed up with my 3 hydras over my 100 gallon and switched back to the sol super blues. all corals especially softies responded right away. i was getting next to no growth with the hydras on my sps, should have just left the sols to begin with. i knew something was up and that it wasn't water quality because i had the sol super blue as the refugium light with a frag rack, and the same zoas that were there were doing much better than the ones in the DT :hmm4:

Wierd. I have a softie tank with some LPS and everything is growing like crazy with the hydra.

What were your settings?

Sorry, I just have the regular controller so it's not online. I use a manual setup where I have three time periods: 1st turns on blues and violet for two hours, then 2nd adds the whites/uv/red/green for 4 hours, and 3rd turns down the whites and uv but leaves the blues/violet/red/green for two hours. One hour ramp up/down each. So for the 3rd (evening) period which I think looks so nice I have whites and uv at 2, blues at 50, violet at 20, and green/red at 7. Then of course the 4th manual setting turns everything down to 0 for the night until the 1st time period kicks in the next day.

Hey who here has the hydra 52 and how do I set the moon light cycle useing APEX :(
Im a bit confuzed how to get it to turn on since they don't have the option for it in the interface.
