I would definitely go for a more standard equatorial day with 4hr ramps and a 4 hr peak. As for intensity I think over time you are going to want to up the intensity to at least 30-40 white and 70-80 blue. For reference this is what I have been running for the past few months over a std. 29 gallon and I love it.

Just remember a 2-1 blue to white ratio will put you around 18-20k spectrum while a 1-1 (like I run) puts you around 10-12k. I tend to like a whiter tank over a bluer one but it's all personal preference!

I have the first generation hydra and the blues have recently gone out. Anyone know if they still sell the upgrade to 52's? I'd hate for the things to just end up being scrap...

I did a search and didn't see it for sale anywhere but I would contact Ecotech and ask. I may have my problems with their policies but IME the representatives will do anything they can to help.

I had an old hydra 20, which had the white, green and royal blue go out, along with the fan. I sent it back to AI./ ecotech and for 250.00 sent me a brand new hydra 26HD. I thought that was more than fair.

I thought I would ask here first before contacting support. This morning I wrapped my tank as I have a Cyano problem,I also turned off all the lights on the app. When I got home I had one light on, all the others are off.Since I am not sure how to turn off just that one light I unplugged it.If I look at the devices it is showing two lights (child)with a little red exclamation mark. How do I find out what that is,and do you know why that one light did not shut off. I have 8 lights total,Hydra 52hd.

This happened to me yesterday as well. Not sure why. But I unplugged light and erased the hydra child from the app/website. Then I re plugged back and re scanned and connected the child. Now back to normal. Hope this helps. If you did contact AI please let us know what they say since I'm curious as well
Thank you

Dose anyone still use there standard hydra. I've had mine for 3 yrs and still using. I don't have a par meter. Was wondering how much weaker they are.

Don't make me think I'm the only one who stuck with standard Hydra's

I still have an original hydra I've been wanting to use on my smaller tank. Well, most of one. Upgraded it to a 52 when they first came out and the kit replaces practically every part, except the heatsink. AI had spare heatsinks for sale for really cheap at first (Should've jumped on it), but then the price went waayyy up and then they were gone altogether.

So far, I had a afew royal blues leds go out. AI replaced them at no charge. I had them working on 4 yrs. But not sure they are putting out the light that they once did. I feel I go my money's worth.

Same happened to my original hydras. Lasted 4 years. Then all the blues started burning out. AI sent new one but the lights weren't the same. I think the par/wavelengths changed after the years. I know for sure because I had this weird brown algae problem. Once I bought new 52hd the algae went away. I gave the old hydras to a friend who put on his frag tank that was connected to his main system. Few day later he started getting that crazy brown algae all over the tank. He had to get new lights

I did the same thing. ..upgraded sols to the 52. Rapid led sells a heat sink that will accommodate the old boards. I diy'd 2 of them and they work great.

hey everyone,

I have two HD Primes over my reefer 250. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some lighting settings. My tank is a mixed reef but its very light on SPS. Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Completely depends on what look you are going for. 2-1 blue to white is approximately 20k while 1-1 is approximately 10k. I suggest shooting for a photoperiod of 12 hrs with 4hr ramps. If you like closer to 10-12k for color temperature I posted my schedule a few pages back! Hope this helps.
