AI Hydra Settings Thread

You are going to run into an issue with softies in such a shallow tank with these lights. Is there anyway you can pull the lights to 18" above waterline? If so do that and try my 12" sps ab+ profile. I have included respiration peaks to help give my lower light demand corals a bit of a reprieve during peak daylight hours while at the same time giving my high demand animals the light they need to thrive. By pulling the leds higher the hope is it will diffuse the intensity and decrease hot spotting which seems to hit mushrooms especially hard. The problem with leds on shallow tanks is the light doesn't disperse as well and have the same uniformity as t5 and MH. Finally, I honestly have given up on mushrooms with these lights, I can't grow them. Zoas though seem to be thriving and growing very well. Beautiful tank btw, I LOVE the dimensions.

Thanks! I love tanks with a lot of depth front to back I think it gives them so much more dimension. how can I find you aip file? I honestly don't even care about the mushrooms. They were just some basic ones that came on some rock I bought. But I would like the zoas to fill in some empty space between SPS.

Ok so I found your profile. Is that for a 12" tall tank? Those numbers are all higher than what I'm currently running. Should I just run an acclimation mode on it to start?

Will do! I am going to world wide coral today or tomorrow so we will see what nonsense I come home with [emoji23]

Great store for acros. I see you are in the area. I also like Reefers Direct in St. Cloud.

It's for running the lights 12" above the water line. Has reduced white channel output over the 24" profile. And yes I'd do 30% acclimation for 2 months :) I think you will end up loving the profile!

I haven't had an issue with brighter hilighter colored zoas. Just avoid your designer dark and pastel ones and you'll find they grow fantastic! On a 12" deep tank you should average right around 200 par on the sand bed with my settings.

Ok awesome, and just to be clear. This is for the 52 HDs not the 26s, correct?

Orcus,

I gotta thank you for the AB+ profile.

Newly setup Red Sea Reefer 250
3x Hydra 26HDs
AB+ 12" Settings (spiked the blues on the three middle peaks to 100%)
SPS tank, Acros placed between the mid-16" mark

Coloring up and encrusting unbelievably in a 2 month old (fast cycled) system.

Orcus no luck with corals, got. My own RO UNIT. My phosphates reading 0.039 with hanna checker. Got my nitrate down to 10ppm. Corals are pretty much dead only thing survived is the Waving hand polyps. I tried running the light as u suggested maybe one or 2 pages before but no luck. Don't know what to do I am pretty much stuck can grow coral.

Hydra settings for a 90L tank

Hydra settings for a 90L tank

Hi all,

I have just upgraded my lighting to the hydra 26 HD on a 90L tank (45cm cube).

At this stage I have a hammer and a lobo in the tank.

I would like some suggestions on setting the light parameters, including lunar if possible.

Thanks

Daniel

Thanks, Orcus for the original profile *and* thanks Ace6090 for adapting it for the Hydra 26 (non-HD). I just put it on my pair of nonHD 26's. At first glance through Director it looks like it peaks @ 74% for the blue channels, but actually clicking on the graph peaks it is really at 90%!!

FYI for everyone so you don't burn out. I was running @ 60% 20k peak, so I'll be acclimating 4 weeks anyways.

Most welcome! I am glad it's working out so well for so many reefers. Here's a few updated photos I took today!! IMG_1438.jpgIMG_1443.jpgIMG_1414.jpgIMG_1413.jpgIMG_1411.jpg

Your welcome and yes the profile is quite intense a nice long acclimation period never hurts. I'm currently going through a 3 month 40% acclimation since I moved to a larger tank and added another prime hd about a month ago :)

I have not been to that store I'm going to have to make a trip one weekend! If you are ever up for a drive coral corral in Tampa is quite nice also.
