AI Hydra Settings Thread

Hey,

Thanks for the pointers! Do you suggest I just switch to the high power version now? The difference was the red/green/white channels had more power right? Light came in last week but they sent the wrong mount so I should have it set up in the next day or 2.

Here is a recentish picture of the tank if it helps:

Thanks again for the profiles and the support!

I would run this schedule https://1drv.ms/u/s!Akco_cmvvLNrgbgngeuJT6zWysLhkg . Set it and forget it, I am running it on my frag tank and anemone tank which I don't have t5 supplements and it's perfect. Your tank is very nice by the way, I can't wait to see it grow in.

OK after reading about 15 pages or so I have yet to see what im looking for with my setup, so question time.

Full sps
20g Nuvo peninsula ( 30Lx12Wx13t ) so 11.5" of water or so.
1 hydra 52 HD

Figured fixture 10" or 12"above the water

Settings: of course tweak for viewable pleasure ever so slightly.
Blues 40%
UV's 40%
Whites 10-20%
red and green 5% or less

12 hour cycle
4 hour ramp up starting at 10am.
4 hour ramp down with the lighting off at 10pm
Then 3% max RB the rest of the night with Lunar on for moonlights

What do the creditable people think :)

Yikes I would honestly see if you can rent or borrow a PAR meter from your lfs. That is not a lot of water for a 52HD and I would want to make sure I was hitting and not exceeding 250-300 PAR for a full sps system. From my experience in shallow water just a few percentage points difference in settings can change PAR readings by 50+ with the 52HD. More then 6" down the effect is mellowed but in the top 6" depending on your surface agitation you can get some serious hot-spotting.

Also, I would do 1 hr ramps and a 7hr peak daylight period as outlined in world wide corals coral lab study.

Hi Orcus,

Currently have a reefer 425XL with 2 26HDs mounted 10'' above the water. What setting would you recommend for an SPS Dominant tank, with LPS on the lower levels? The one drive link above contains no data

Thanks in advance

Lol let's just say I didn't want to be on the short side of strong enough lights 😊
Plus figured it would let me put them at 12" for the best spread / coverage and can of course adjust the power down.

I got my new hydra 26 (non HD) setup today. Man, for the life of me I can't get a color setting I'm happy with. I've been messing with it for hours with no luck. I've been slowly working my way through this thread trying everyone's setting. Why can't I just get it to look exactly like my old Phoenix 14k :(

No matter what I do, it has a nasty pinkish purplish tone to it

Setting up a new Reefer 260 with 2 hydra 26HD's and was wondering witch light schedule to use for a mixed reef.

i figured out how to download them on my phone and get them into the MyAI app just not sure witch one to use

Find where you saved it. Try to open the file and choose copy to my AI. I am assuming you are using an iOS device but I am sure the process is very similar on android as well. I hope this helps.

Ok I hit copy to my AI and it opens the AI app but the schedule does not show up

It's 9 hrs total with 7 "œpeak" daylight hours. After you copied the file to the AI app you have to select it by clicking the preset star.

I've been using the old AB+ for around a year with much success. What's your opinion on the latest 2018 AB + vs the old?

I think they are both equally good schedules. I have personally been using a schedule with no peaks on my tanks for the past 8 months. I added supplemental t5 lighting to my main display and removed the peaks because the t5 defeats the whole purpose behind the Respiration Peak schedule. I then moved my frag tanks to a no peak schedule for uniformity so I can easily move frags between my systems.

Got ya, so if you were running LED only, do you think you would run the old schedule?

I haven't noticed any difference in growth/color between the two so it's completely up to you. I would just because I enjoy the "œcloud cover", seems to reveal different things in the tank as the clouds pass.
