AI Hydra Settings Thread

Lol just unscrew the lights, tape the legs and paint the rails with plastidip, if you don't like it peel it off...lol

If it was only that simple...lol The screws that stick up out of the heatsink have to slide into the T grove of the 80/20. The screws sticking out of the ends of the 80/20 have to slide in the T groves of the AI rails.

To get the lights off, I have to take the ends off the AI rails, slide both lights with the 80/20 attached off the rails, then slide the 80/20 across the heat sink of the lights.

The end result is nice because there are almost no exposed screw heads, but the design definitely does not lend itself to ease of assembly and disassembly.

Maybe hand painting the rails may be faster?

You guys sould just get a good phone say an Iphone! the app for it works great! LOL
Sorry had to rub it in. LOL

it's really all up to your corals, everyone's settings here are close but there are probably not two people with identical settings, read through the thread and you will find peoples similar settings for certain colors which might help

Minus the 30 pages of director talk. Hydra or director thread?...starting to scratch my head... bahahahaha...

What's the latest version of the director now? I just recieved mine and it started updating and has now stopped at 2.0.24-r0. Is this the latest? Thanks

Great Thx.

I also have mine setup thru my ethernet but I can't access the director following the directions to go to...."http://director-xxxxxxx.local". I had to access directly to the IP instead. Is this normal?

IDK if it is normal or not, but sometimes I can not access mine that way either. myAI and the IP address always works though.

I have kept my cloud probability at 10%, but after this newest update it seems like they are rolling in much more frequently.

@gagonzalez:
I made the same transition, but for the regular hydras. I used one of Sonic's settings. See sonicboom.aip. (see zipped attachment. new director update allows us to share settings now...)

But, I think it was too strong for my frogspawn, which was directly under the lights. I then adjusted it to sonicboom_frogspawn.aip.

FYI. I run my light left-to-right, which are centered about 8 inches from the water surface and about 20 inches from the top of my rocks (so there is about 12 inches of water from surface to top of rocks).

I'm at the tail end of a 6 week acclimation, but I intend to increase the intensities over the summer.

Hope this helps.

Jon

Thanks manalojo,

I'll give it a try and tweak it if necessary. What did you set your starting acclimation for? My light should arrive today so I'll probably do the swap from the PC lighting in the next few days. Since the distance from the top of my rock to the light is about 16" total, I'll probably need to start even lower than you did. Again, thanks for your help.

So gregrocks and I are experimenting with turning down the UV to see if we can get more colors to pop. So far I dropped my UV down from 75% to 55% and so far I am seeing one sps which I thought was brown, turning pinkish and greenish. He turned his down even further so we'll see how it goes. I started noticing less and less coloration the longer the summer days got.
