AI Hydra Settings Thread

Just set up a 40 breeder. Have a hydra 16" awl. I have the default program running now. Any suggestions on settings for the timers and ramp times? I am new to AI so I don't have a place to refer to.

Still cycling the tank and looking for help. I plan of softies since I am new to coral. Now I have 3 hour ramp, start 5:30 & end 6:30(Florida keys)

Bryn, your best bet is to go through this thread I know it is long but you will learn a lot from it. there is no easy answer.

Anyone with a regular hydra that switched to a 26 or running a 26 side by side to a regular? I am comparing the two and am wondering if the 26 will be blindingly white with 8 cool whites instead of 4 and the only 6 total blues instead of 8.

Isn't it suppose to have the same spread also as the regular Hydra's?

I have looked alot and this seems to be good. So my compilation for LPS and softies is below.
Sun up 8:30, sunset 5 with 3 hour ramp.
White & UV 25
Violet 60
Blues 80
Green & red 5

Starting with a 6 week 30 % acclimatization. Then 20/20 clouds.

Looks good if you want you can go higher on the whites I am at 30% and am getting good growth from my LPS.

Well, I have begun to add coral back to my tank. Two Acros, one Monti, and some Zoas. All are frags. My settings for the time being are below. Let's see how things go.

UV 15
V 50
RB 50
DB 50
R 15
G 15
W 50
20% Chance of clouds, 10% intrensity
3 hour ramp up and down
Moonlight setting on

Over the weekend updated the director and noticed a couple LEDs were out. No idea how or why, but they're out. So AI is sending me another replacement set of lights. This is my second replacement. Hopefully they work evenly. Well see

Greg, are your light regular Hydras or 52's?
Sound strange that you should be having such problems.
Has AI said anything ie they had a bad batch of LED's?

Regular hydras. No clue what's going on. Last time was my fault for screwing into the heatsink too tightly. This one is random and came outta nowhere. Who knows what the issue is. Glad they're doing something about it though

good morning to all
I am new to the forum and also to a new LED lighting.
I just bought 2 Hydra52 and a Hydra26 to illuminate my tank with acricilo measures 1.60 x 0.60 x 0.60 (m).
In the tank are present both SPS LPS, although the SPS are completely brown,
All the animals and coral fish are entrami Pacific (Australia), and I wish I could make a right setting with the lighting.
Being in Milan and in Italy you can give me some advice on how to make a nice setup of these 3 ceiling?

So I'm back to report on this color setting have been running it just with 25% Uv that's all every thing else the same and I'm impressed with the colors my sps and zoa are getting I have not seen on my sps for a long time running the Kessil a green acro started getting vivid blue tips along with other sps becoming more colorful :) I'm happy and will continue to run the setting was from 7/2/14 till this date takes a while to get change but works.

Can you post your settings? Browning is usually too much uv. You may not need to be over 10% with a 26 and some 52's

Settings and Bubbletip

Settings and Bubbletip

Sonicboom as a fellow Tampa guy I have a question. Currently I have a 38 gallon tank and I have had a Hydra 52 on it for for 8 months. I recently changed the settings to take advantage of the weather effect. My current setting are:
UV 0-71
V 0-60
DB 4-79
RB 0-79
G 0-15
DR 0-15
CW 0-20

As you know we have had out typical storms lately so there has been a lot lightning and cloud days. I noticed yesterday that my bubbletip moved up the tank, after not moving for 5 months, and then this morning it had moved behind the rocks. It has seem happy up to this point any ideas that it could be the lighting that is causing the issue? Thoughts?

As an FYI I am building a new house and putting in a 250 G build it tank. Should be cool.

First of all, I want to be at the tank delivery at the new house...lol. second. We have had major thunderstorms about 5 out of 7 days a week and if it hasn't been raining then it's been cloudy. I think your tank might be getting 2-4 hours of full sun between all the clouds a day. I turned off my weather on June 1st the first day of Hurricane season. Now I just do 20% /10% clouds and everything is happy.
