AI Hydra Settings Thread

Well I have made some changes on my lights and I'll share with you now. This is the most effective and I noticed increased coloration and growth after that.

UV light helps the growth a lot. That's what I have noticed but with caution because it will fry your corals fast so I have now 5 lightning periods:

1) Sunrise

CW: 10
NW: 0
WW: 0
UV: 20
Violet: 100
DB: 100
RB: 100
Red: 10
Green: 10
Overal intensity: 80%
60min ramp

2 hours period

2) Mid Day 1 (High UV)

CW: 70
NW: 0
WW: 0
UV: 100
Violet: 100
DB: 100
RB: 100
Red: 30
Green: 30
Overal intensity: 80%
1 min ramp

2 hours period

3) MidDay 2 (low UV)

Same settings as the midday1 but only 20% UV and CW at 50%
5 hours period

4) Sun Down
Same as the sunrise but no white and reverse ramp (120 min reverse ramp)

2 hours period

5) Moon

All zero but DB: 1%, RB: 1%

I'm using this for 2 weeks now and the improvement on the colors and growth is really better then my previous settings.

I started dosing vodka last Sunday and growth has taken off, I went six days without cleaning glass. I don't want to hijack this thread, more info on my build thread.

i have been dosing for 9 months now - vinegar @ 25mls on 200 gal. I noticed a big difference also. word of advice don't go above 8dkh every time i do i get burnt tips.

will follow your thread :D

Roberto, you are using the Apex AWM correct?

Finally, someone posted their settings including the OVERALL intensity for each part of the day! Thank you!!! This helps me tremendously. Nobody ever knows what I'm talking about when I ask them what overall intensity they are using, because it is only a feature that the AWM module for the Apex posesses.

Thanks again Roberto! :love2:

these settings may work for you which is great. but what people should take into consideration is that with these higher settings we've seen through this site that SPS corals do well with them, but LPS corals usually can't handle these higher settings. just my 2-cents

TWEEKEDTA you are right.

I have LPS corals as well but they are placed on the shadows (just next to the rocks and on the caves below).

If I put them on the direct light (even on the bottom) they really can be killed.

Anyway this works for ME ok. I just want to help. My corals are long term under high PAR LEDs (years). I really DO NOT RECOMMEND my settings before a long at maximum 50% of my overal intensity acclimation.

So my opinion on the last update is it seems to be either using more memory or cpu can't handle the additional features. 8 out of 10 times I try to connect to the director I get not connected or I connect but only half the information is displayed until a good 4 minutes have passed.

I would try and power cycle the director. I'm not having any problems with mine but I always manually power cycle any electronics that have just received a software/firmware update.

Thought I would post a few before and after growth shots.
