AI Hydra Settings Thread

I have the opportunity to make the move from my two Hydras to two Hydra 52s for $300. These would still be used over my 65g. Would this just be completely useless overkill? Is it too good of a deal to pass up? Would there be any advantage to the two 52s instead of two standard Hydras?

Sounds like a great deal but useless unless you plan on upgrading your tank in the future to something deeper and wider than 24 inches. Otherwise you will be running them around 20%..

Well, I just finished upgrading my Sols to Hydras.

Looks like a successful operation except for the one that has a chunk missing. .lol. somewhere in this thread I posted of video of a tear down but it looks like you got it under control.

Sonicboom... I did watch your video. yeah the tear down went well until the last screw on the second unit would not come off. I ended up stripping the head on the screw. Had to break the case off... won't be going back to the Sols... lol. I guess that I could buy a new case if I really wanted to.

Yeah, that is kind of how I see it. I do like the white to blue ratio in the Hydra 52s a lot better than in the regular Hydras though. I may do it.

Anyone knows what color in K is the Cool white from the Hydras? Ive seen leds sold in Cool white color that range from 6,500k to 5,700k to 5,000k

Everyone warns again running the cool whites too high, but with the Hydras having a 2:1 blue to white ratio and violets on top of that, my tank is just too blue for my taste unless I run my CWs pretty high. Why do people run their cool white so low? Algae issues?

With the 52s having a 1:1 white to blue ratio, I think it may be easier for me to get a color temperature I am happy with.

Give them a few days for you to get used to the colors. I run my blues at 100% and white at 35% and it's not blue enough for my liking but my corals love it and that's what's important to me.

But lightning clouds and thunderstorms go hand in hand, what they need to do is allow use of locations weather while turning off the lightning.
