AI Hydra Settings Thread

So what are people's experiences with what live aquaria says as say, "moderate" light with their Hydras? Do you place a coral like that in the middle of the tank? It seems like LA lists a lot of corals (maybe just the ones I've gotten so far?) as low, or maybe moderate light. Seems like the bottom of my tank is going to be covered, and the rocks up top empty, lol. Any thoughts on this? I have zoas, riccordia, Duncan, brain coral, a hammer coral, and a toadstool. Anyone have experience with these with the Hydras?

I really want a AI but I have no idea which of the 3 hydras I would need. any suggestsions its a 30x12x12 size tank. for now it will be lps and softies but once I move in to my new house I will be transitioning to sps. thank yyou

I have not gotten anything from LA but the frags i have gotten from fellow reefers or my LFS if coming from cheap Chinese LED's or MH, pretty much always start at the bottom of the tank or off to the side, then work their way up or around my tank. I have a green pocillipora from a friend as a first frag when i started and it is INDESTRUCTIBLE and spawns probably every month. how do i know it is spawning and can't be killed? from one mother colony i gave away, i now have pocillipora growing on about 20 different rocks.

Hard to say. Mushrooms should have no problem but if you focus on growing chalices at the edge of your tank you may bleach corals at the center with a 52.

Yup, that's the same one I'm on. Odd I wonder if it was a fluke. there were no patch notes and I didn't see the lights flashing either but I got a prompt about an update.

So I ended up buying the hydra 52 for my 20g since I might be upgrading to a 55 around the summer time. Any suggestions to how high to mount it

Not sure what options you have for a 20 or how your ceiling is but you can adjust the power depending on where you mount it. You may not even need to go past 20% on most colors on the 20. The 55 will be a different story.

AI hydra 26 on a shallow

Hi guys, currently running 1 hydra 26 on my shallow tank. It's the jbj frag tank 24x20x9. The llights are 12" above the water line and these are my settings. Any thoughts?? Mainly sps, but the reds have faded a bit on some of my acros. Looks dull.

Ok so I've noticed something pretty big since I've been using these hydras. Since lowering the uv about a year ago, most of my red corals have turned orange. My parameters are spot on and have only had this issue with LEDs.

After tons n tons of online reading it seems to be an LED lighting issue. I've power up my uv from 15 to 30 and am going to keep observations and see. If the corals redden up, I'm gonna go a bit higher with em. I originally turned the uv down due to SPS browning as a result of the higher uv. Kind of a sun block effect. We shall see how the Reds go w the new settings

Anyone else noticing this?!
