AI Hydra Settings Thread

Everyone's setup is different even if you have the same tank. I rather suggest lower settings and have coral growth then max settings and risk burning or bleaching. There's 104 pages of variations in settings and only a few I can think of run higher settings.

Sure, but apparently it can be done, without burning or bleaching corals. Starting off low is really good advice. IMO to get the best performance out of these fixtures the power needs to be raised very, very slowly.

Is anyone other than me running a long duration? I run 14 hours total. Just curious.

I run mine to Los Angeles time but not weather. Summer time there's definitely more hours of light. I try to emulate Mother Nature as much as possible and my tank seems to like it

I'm coming from a 24in. 4 blub t5 with 3 blue+ blubs and 1 coral+ blub. Should I lower or higher my settings what do you guys think

i have a 100 gal tank with 2 hydras would love to hear some setting suggestions

What are the dimensions on the tank?! Got a 100g being shipped to me this weekend. Upgrading my 60g

What are you stocking in the tank? Need more info. Softies don't require as much power or percentage as SPS do

I have a jbj 30 RL with a hydra 52 12" off the water.

I'm in search of a starting point. I don't have a director.

My tank*Dimensions: 23.6"x19.7"x16.5" (60cmX50cmX42cm)

Is there anyone out there who can help me dial my light in.

I keep messing with them and they don't seem right.

Ramp on at 8am for an hour

W = 15
V = 60
R = 15
G = 15
Db = 60
Rb = 60
Uv = 60

Ramp down at 4pm for an hour

Off at 5pm

I'm battling some tank glass algae (the powdery kind) lately. Anything I can do to lower the algae, as far as lighting goes with the AI?

*already starting to lighten the feeding regiment

It's not a bad thing (depending on how fast it grows) are you running gfo? I had algae issues when I would run it too aggressively. Now only run it 6 hours a day. Tank is much better looking, no algae!

Yea I have my TLF reactor running RowaPhos. Last I checked PO is at a very low level, I use API test kit and it's not at the lowest (0) but seems to be lighter than the second lowest reading.

I do run it pretty long, maybe step back the photo period back an hour or something? Or lowering the red may help?

I have similar issue like urs...just scaled back one hour and reduced the red to 15% from 25% and hopefully to algae will slow down.

Yes, I shall try that as well, as I was on 25% red also. Fingers crossed, and I shall keep everyone updated.

How do you like your new Hydra 52? My small garden of sticks responding quite well from the two Hydra 52s. I was planning on upgrade my last Hydra to all three Hydra 52s for my 100g Cadlights, but decided to wait for a few months to see the growth of the sps b4 jump ship for one more Hydra 52.

Hey everyone, I was wondering how many Hydras I would need over an 8' 300 gallon tank. My dimensions are 96x24x30H. I am thinking 4 at most, one for every two feet. Thanks!

Zoas and duncans have seen the best growth within a month of installing these Hydra 52s. Previously thought goners were brought back to life and doing much better these days.

Most of my euphyllia are happy too. Overall very happy with the purchase, definitely a worthwhile investment, future-proof too for if I want a bigger tank in the future.

I currently have two Hydra 52s and one Hydra on a 48" Cadlights. They all mounting vertically (| | |) and I have no issue with the shadow areas.

Depends on your rock work formation and how you are going to mount them. You will have some areas with less light with just four Hydras. I would think at least 6 Hydras to provide a better coverage for your 96" long dt. Just my opinions. Maybe some one else can also chime in.
