How do the corals look, browned , pale or correct coloration, seems a little night, maybe enable acclimation more for 20% for 30 -45 days

Question...I bought a Torch Coral that was showing really nice pink tips at the LFS, but does not show the same pink tips in my tank (45 tall, 2 AI 26s). What LED colors need to be turned up in order to bring that color back out?
I would say blues and uv. Turn down the whites a little
Yeah. The LFS was def not running AIs. Not sure what they were but I know they weren't AIs. The coral is def acclimated. It's been in there since Last December and the AI's have been on my tank since Feb. I'm going to check my color percentages tonight and post. Perhaps they need some adjusting to bring out the right colors. Thanks again guys!Unless the LFS is running AI Hydras at the exact height and settings as your's, you can pretty much expect any coral to change colors once received. acclimate and you will see the correct colors or better.
Hey guys, it was time I upgraded my lights on our 40g IM Fusion. Looking for some advice on setting up the fixture since the difference between these two fixture par output are completely different. Was running the Kessil A160WE at 100 % the whole 8 hours and lps/sps's were seeing 60-80 par (yes I know its crazy low). This Hydra 26 at 60 percent the same corals are seeing 120-160 par. Now i know everyone says par shouldn't be used to measure intensity but i'm wondering if these are that damn powerful. Also a dear friend of mine swears by these lights and i've seen his results which are pretty impressive what interesting is he only runs the CW's for an hour or 2 during the day that its, his sps or any corals he puts under them grows like weeds! Any help and thoughts would be great on starting out, not sure if anyone is willing to share there AIP file as well. I've found some files shared on line but I notice its not easy to shift the whole program related to start and end time. Looking forward in becoming AI sps gold soon.:love2:
As cyberdude said, the culprits could be too low blues, or too high UV and or whites.
Thanks to everyone for this thread- has helped immensely in transitioning from MH based lighting on my tanks to LED on this latest build (though finding stuff in this thread is difficult with 140 pages!).
I have a question on Violet-
A post on our local board (found on another board) had a summary of the different colors and what they do. Violet is supposed to be for growth. I did find corals very sensitive to it- couple bleached after increasing without an acclimation. What setting are people usually running it and how much impact on growth did you find it has by changing?
Thanks.
