AI Hydra Settings Thread

There is no latest firmware released by AI. This is what I currently have fr the Director 2.0.53.r0

Great, I had switched to the wireless controller because of some work being done to the house and did not know if I was up to date.
Thank you.
Mike

if under warranty you can get the pucks replaced, otherwise you will need to see cost of upgrade vs replacement pucks and go from there.

Hey sonic ,
I dont mind the upgrade cost 300 for 52 upg and 260 for the 26. Thats not bad. Also i doubt i have warranty . I have had these for about years now. O btw i run my lights in different channels. Since i run one at a higher percentage than the other because of how my tank is and rockwork.

nice, i would just go for the 52 since it's a kit that fits in the standard hydra and you will have more than enough should you ever upgrade tanks.

So i decided to get a 26 instead of the 52. Think that the 52 would have been way overkill for me. Let me tell you this 26 is bright!!!! Compared to the regular hydra. Anyways here are some pics. Just changed my settings and most likely will continue to change in the next few days

I have gained a lot of valuable info from reading this thread so I thought it was time for me to contribute.

I spoke with someone at AI customer service today. Although he was unable to give me a firm release dat, he said HD line units should begin shipping this week. Heeeeellll yissssss.

This is the new graph im trying out. Took the 14k and 20k settings people posted and plugged them in. Starting at 50% acclimation, and ill increase it every 7 days 5%. My tank was used to the blues being at 70% , but whites and uv nowere near that. I ran it before at 10 hr photo period. 3 hr ramp at blues 70, green and red 7 , white 20, uv 15. And i will peak whites at 35 for 2hrs during mid day and uvs 20 for 2hrs each. But since this 26 is considerably brighter than the old hydras, and im running white way higher now, i decided to use the coral acclimate tab. But correct me if im wrong.

Cant get that whole sunset to color up. Its huge but only the far back is getting a good color. This is mainly the reason i decided to increase the lights. Specially whites.

go to your desktop and open the web interface and you will see the upload and download option . it not available via the app or via the iPad

So I thought I would ask everyone what their thought Are on this. I have 6 hydra 52 over a 5x27x27 tank and 10" off waterline with 4 t-5 ran for 4 hrs a day and this is my light schedule below.

I can't get over 50% on my lights without loosing color. My question is do you think I'm at the max or should I raise like 2% every 2 weeks. I've tried 55% and after 3 weeks or a month I loose color. What your thoughts?

Hey yall, just got 2 hydra 26's for my 75 gal. Decided to go with 2 26's because of the cross bar, I also got a director and plan to get it all hooked up and running as soon as I finish building my hood. Had a question or two when it came to programming the lights. I ripped everything down and am starting out with a clean slate and was wondering what would be a good setting for these lights, I prefer a more natural white look but would still like good coral growth and color.

White 45%
Violet 35%
Red 26%
Green 18%
D-blue 60%
Royal 60%
Uv 40%

Gonna have a 2 hr ramp time running 8 to 7 with a lunar cycle running 10% of the blues.

One other question I had was with me having two separate lights on one director do I need to tune each individual light to create a total percentage of what I'm looking for or each running the way I have it planned for good coverage across the tank. Thanks for the much appreciated help!

need help setting light percentage for AI HYDRA for reef

We'll need a little bit of info on your setup such as tank size, lights (which model, how many, and how high), what are you keeping, and probably most importantly, what lights did you have before the Hydras?

In general, the consensus is to start with a low percentage and increase the intensities very slowly. In my situation, I was going from Vega Colors and upgraded to Hydra 52s. I slowly brought the blues to 100% over a span of four months.

I know this is a setting post but im fairly new to the hobby and I am setting up a 45 gallon shallow reef that's 48in long. I like the price of AI and have heard great things about them. My question is which would be better 2 Primes or 1 hydra 52HD the tank is only 12 inches deep and will house softies and LPS maybe mangroves eventually. Also open to other suggestions. Thank you in advance for the help
