AI Hydra Settings Thread

Shoot. That's horrible!!
Did you do it manually??

AI reallllyyy needs to add this function. It takes about 10 minutes to move all 50+ points I have in the schedule.... Makes me want to poke my eyes out with a hot poker haha

I have an AI Hydra and a Director. I haven't really used the director much in the past and decided to plug it up and get it going. I have a Nano tank cube (I think 24 gallon or so.) I was just curious what settings you guys would recommend for this tank. How long to run it, how to adjust the various light colors, etc. Also, I did an easy set up and changed the numbers a bit based on something I saw on this forum. Is there any way I can take a screen shot from my browser to show the forum what my settings are now?

Thanks so much!

So I added another Hydra 26 to my existing 2 hydras 26s on my 90 . I would say I definitely have enough light now ? But my brace is still causing shading[emoji35]. Let's see how my coral react to with Orcus schedule

@Orcus Varuna I'm using your hydra set up sugestionar above. I'm very happy with the results.
May you help me how can I change the ramp time to start at mid day (12 pm) because when I arrived from my job at night I just see few hours that my reef. Tks a lot.

You have to manually move each point in the schedule ahead by 3 hrs. Unfortunately AI has not made this easy :/

Thanks so much for posting this. I really appreciate it and look forward to seeing how it plays out.

Quick question..... Why the CW so low? Sps tank??? I have majority Sps

The cool white diodes are very strong and tend to bleach corals if set too high. Also, If you read the WWC and Ecotech study where they developed the template for these settings they are geared to drive maximum growth while retaining coloration. They are based off the tried and true blue + & aquablue special bulb layout used in coral farms for years. Sure you could get more growth if you acclimate slowly to a more intense white diodes schedule but I would expect you to see some browning in sps. I hope I explained that well :/

You did absolutely and I truly appreciate your thoughts and help.

I actually had my CW set at 50ish so took it down but and about 5%higher than your settings for CW. Kept all the rest the same.

Just so I educate myself, why the 12 inch and 24 inch differences. Is that for height of lights about tank or depth of water?

These settings were formulated on a 24" deep tank and the 12" and 24" indicates height hung above the water line. If your tank is 25-30" deep I would reccomend hanging the lights 10-12" above the water and running the 24" profile. This will hopefully compensate for the additional depth but you would need a par meter to confirm. Just glad I can help! Happy Reefing!!!!!

Brilliant. Thanks again!

Hey guys.

I wanted to add some details to my post above in case it's helpful. Hi, I have an AI Hydra (I believe it's an original
One) that is hanging about 8 1/2 inches from the surface of the water. It's about 15 1/2 inches from the surface of the water to the sand bed. (So about 24 inches from the light to the sand bed.). I'm just curious if you could help me with settings for my light. I'm using the director and not really worried about bleaching anything.

Any suggestions on what the right settings are would be appreciated. (By the way, my Hyrda is the one with 4 pucks of lights.)(

Thanks!

The thread is a bit confusing because there are posts about various versions of the Hydra. I have the AI Hydra with 4 light pucks, but it's not the Hydra 52.

Thanks.
