Aiptasia in my zoanthids!

I have several rocks with really nice zoanthids, but recently aiptasia was introduced to the tank and has taken off. Is there a way to treat the aiptasia that won't kill the zoas? One rock has a couple hundred Tubs Blues so I am a little nervous. Joes Juice applied carefully, or a CBB?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Joes Juice is effective. Tried using a shrimp but my agressive fish ate him before he got to work. Joe's juice kills them but they seem to keep coming back, so the battle continues.

yes it will kill the polp if it gets on them. i would try peppermint shrimp first. they have always worked great for me.

If you do use the Joe's juice, just make sure that the powerheads are off when you apply.

I used Joe's Juice on one in a small frag (about 7 polyps) of zoos over a month ago. I tried not to get any on the polyps. I didn't lose any zoas. Haven't seen the aiptasia since. *keeping fingers crossed*

try introducing peppermints with the lights off. if they get by the fish initially, they might go straight for hiding places, then venture out at night to eat the aps (they are nocturnal)

My problem with peppermints is that I have several very expensive yumas and some other LPS. I've heard that if you get the wrong pepps, you can really screw yourself. Is that true?

Thanks again everyone for your help.

JJ has always worked for me, I agree with Klese, turn off all circulation when using it and only squirt a little. Or, you can use a syringe with a needle and inject it with scalding hot water.

Mucho

I put any new zoa's in QT after dipping them and I keep peppermints in the in QT, they seem to find all kind of treats to eat on new arrivals :D
