Aiptasia zapper

I am thinking about building one of these:

I don't have an aiptasia problem but it could be userful for mushrooms and palys

The parts I will need:

a 12v DC 500ma power supply
a carbon lead (pencil lead)
wires, thin tubing
silicone,
a stainless steel wire,
tape, shrink tubing and some solder, zipties

Wish me luck so I don't shock myself ... LOL

Good lucky with that Tom. Let us know how it works out, I could use it on all my yumas lol. Hey I wonder if I could use it to stun my mystery wrasse so I can catch him

Grant, I do have room in my "BAD fish" tank if you need a place to jail him lol

I am hoping to finish it to show at the next meeting.

I was going to build one. I got a 20-24VDC adapter @ 70watts

I suggest getting a higher amp & higher voltage one. 12VDC at 0.5amp may not be powerful enough. That is only 6W. I remember reading that too low a wattage damages them, but may not kill them entirely.

I wonder of you could use two 9volt batteries with a large capacitor for the burst zap.

Maybe we should make a set for club.
I am planning to breed berghias. Anyone have aiptasia? I am now culturing aiptasia in spare tank.

So if anyone has extra 5,10,20 gal tanks, I will need them soon for breeding berghias.

Then I can provide them to club when I drive up for meetups.

I do have a 12v 900ma sitting around that I am going to use. I think 2A will be better but I can switch power supply any time, the hard part is to build the rod.

After watching the video I would hate to be on the recieing end of that. Good luck on not getting zapped Tom :)
