Air Bubbles in the tank

Hi Folks, John is up at Webelos Camp with our sons where he cannot be reached by phone. Unfortunately there's a steady stream of air bubbles being pumped into his tank. Can you please help me fix this?

Hey Kathleen, have you checked the sump to make sure there is water in there?? The return pump could be pulling air rather than water.

There are three chambers to the sump. The first has the protien skimmer, the second had the plant life, the third pumps water back into the tank. It does seem low. There's an automatic top off tank next to it which is still full. I can't figure why it's not working...

At this point, I would manually fill the tank with the top off water. I assume a solenoid is sticking and not completing the circuit to turn the ATO pump on.

Does John come back tonight?

My neighbor came over and fussed with the top off sensor, then it started filling up the sump like it should. Thanks for your help!
