was at LFS yesterday and saw this 2-2.5inch PBT.

The body was nearly white and was missing the yellow dorsal fin. LFS said they have had it for 2 weeks. Never a PBT like this. Ive seen many small PBT where they are quite pale but never missing yellow dorsal.

here is a phone pic which is very blue.

was eating well (fozen, nori and pellets) so dont think it is nutritional

Yup. By definition an albino animal wouldn't have any black pigmentation. It seems to be missing the yellows from the colouration, but to know if it's a genetically axanthic, hybrid or just a freak occurence would have to be bred and should it be recessive the offspring would have to be bred together too. Sounds like a new project for the.. uhm.. dedicated aquarist.

By the looks of it, I think it's more likely the fish is on its death bed. I have seen many fish lose coloration in the Lfs and soon after they end up dead.

pbt that is stressed - feed him well and let him have hiding spaces. with the right food and water parms - will bounce back.
if ur lfs told you it was an albino they are on crack and don't believe anything they say.

Just looks like a pale/stressed, but otherwise healthy looking powder blue to me.

I bought one that looked like that from an Lfs. I believed it was stress of being in an empty tank. I saw that is was eating well. With in minutes of getting him into my reef all his colors came back to normal.

I've seen many stressed pbt (most in lfs are) but never seen the yellow dorsal white. Interesting to know if stress is just the case.
