Algae choking zoas

I have a slight problem with an algae choking my zoanthids and wondering how to solve it.

Zoas and this algae are on one old piece of LR from my Nano tank. Does anyone recognize what type of algae it is and how to get rid of it?

That looks like Caulerpa, how long is your light cycle? I'm going to guess your white bulbs are on for longer than 6 hours.

You have a very easy invasion to kill regardless of the id

Remove the zoanthid rock

Dribble 3% peroxide on the bad algae, let sit for one minute. Won't hurt zoanthids. Rinse off, place back in tank algae dies n two days rock looks new.

+1 on h2o2. I dipped for 5 minutes with a 4;! ratio and that worked best for me. Also remove as much as you can manually beforehand.

Cool, didn't know it was that easy to remove. And also didn't know H2O2 won't hurt zoas. Great news, thanks guys!!

I've done the h202 it does work, though perhaps temporary.

Another option if your tank is big enough is something like a foxface/rabbit fish or a tang will eat it and keep it well under control.

It took me a few sessions to finally finish the algea off but it worked the best. I did my dip once a week. The one time I upped it to 3:1 I melted m goblin fires.
