Algae for foxface

Hey everyone! I've had a one spot foxface for about 5 months. He is fat (and I mean fat) and happy. I was giving him Nori on a clip which he tore up. I wasn't able to find the same Nori I bought him before and he will not eat the new Nori. I've tried 2 different brands and he doesn't like it at all. I do not have any algae in my tank. I'm thinking of growing green hair on some rocks in a 5 gallon bucket and just supplementing his algae habit with that. I do have a ton of chaeto in another tank that I could give him. By the way he gets plenty of pellet, Mysis and fish eggs.
Any ideas on how to grow algae outside the tank?

Thanks!

excess nutrients will facilitate algae growth in the tank but it is a fine line if you have other corals present. Is the nori that the foxface won't eat a different color like brown or red and thats why the foxface won't eat it? is there anything else in the tank that was also eating the nori before?

I have a ton of corals and I'm not inclined to intentionally grow algae in the tank...been there. It's the same kind of Nori (brown/greenish) but a different brand. The blenny will eat it sometimes but I've watched the foxface attack it. He actually hangs out by the clip but he hasn't done that since the new brand of Nori.

My fat foxface chows nori aggressively and generally won't touch hair algae, which is a drag. I only give him nori every couple of days. I also use a dried but not roasted variety which I feel is nutritionally superior.

Huh maybe it is a roasted and not dried Nori. I'll have to look at it when I get home. I realized last night that I had put some chaeto behind some rock to boost the pod population for the mandarin a couple of weeks ago and it's now gone. Wonder if he's been eating that instead.

This is probably the issue
