Algae magnet cleaner

Would anyone have a recommendation for a algae scraper? I'm on the fence about buying one of the tiger shark pirhana or magnavor magnets. U even think there is one guy making a similar product out of their house.

I've been using the same cheapo mag float for 4 years. I haven't had algae problems on the glass. I generally need to get in there with the razor every other month. Granted, my kids clean the glass almost daily as part of their $5 and $2 allowances.

So that's what kids are for... @gary its a 65 gallon 1/2" glass but it sits really high so a scrape might help i have lots of coralline growing already.

my 225 has 1/2 inch glass.

Must be a heavy duty 65!

If your main problem is coralline removal glue an EZ blade onto a Magfloat.

Just make sure not to ever pick up any sand when using a magnet cleaner.

Use a pole scraper (with a blade at the end) to carefully clean the glass near your substrate.

Make sure whatever you buy is for your type of tank (glass vs acrylic).

Right on Gary its only 3/8". I'm fortunate to be bare bottom with this tank, but I've seen where people leave magnets in the tank and mare things up. The entire bottom is peppered with purple coralline and the sides are beginning to seed now. I am really uncomfortable taking a razor to glass since I've seen the magnets get miss aligned and scrape up a tank, I've been repeatedly told to use razors though. I normally scraped the glass with a credit card which will be impossible in this tank.

Mag float with e-z blade works great. Very easy to use and it keeps the blade at the perfect angle preventing scratches.

Razors are pretty foolproof in glass tanks - be careful to not pick up sand, and extra careful around silicone in the joints, and there's really no way to harm anything. The glass itself won't scratch from just the razor.
