Algae Magnet

I use the Tiger Shark by Algae Free. Workout with that one too..

I got the same one....all I can say is awesome!!!!

i use the cheap $30 one and it does fine I use them every 3 days. I saw those magnets costing 100's and just couldnt do it. I did add the razor blade to my second pair and use that one once every two weeks for the hard stuff

So the Tiger and the Magnovore have stronger magnets in them than the Mag Float?

All are comparable at about up to 5/8 inch glass and I have a Mag Float and it doesn't grab very hard at all.

I just don't want to spend more and find out that it's the same as I have already.

I have both and yes those shark ones are much better than the mag floats

what nyvp mentioned, what i think is awespme is they sell a scraper attachment that glues onto an algae magnet. im using the plastic blades on mine, works awesome cleaning the glass and corraline.

Andrea Pat has them- they work great-just IC-gel them to your magnet and they clean wonderfully - no more scrapper for me- especially from my b-room side.

there color coded. you need the yellow ones. if you do a quick google search theyll pull up(dont want to post any websites per RC rules)

ya i think there awesome. you can use metal razor blades too(for glass only!!), but they will rust if you leave them in. i just keep the plastic ones permanately on it, and change em out once i see they start not scraping as good.

Hmm, I'm confused. The Kent ones? I have those, but yellow is for glass and red for acrylic....

They are talking about this

If you dont mind getting your arms a little wet, Home Depot has various size plastic disposable Taping knives. They are just like the Kent scraper but MUCH bigger and wider. The biggest is 10" across. They cost less than $2 and work GREAT. They scrape the glass clean in no time with much less effort than magnets. I can clean my entire 180g in literally less than 3 minutes with the 10". HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Understood, but neither of those is for Acrylic.

I have the plastic putty knives from HD too, but I can never reach the crud just above the sandbed. I tried to insert a piece of Credit Card into my Kent Scraper and it actually made scratches!

go with the tunze magnets, kind of pricey but it will never fail you and will go to larger thicknesses. we have had one for like 6 years and its still strong as the day we got it.

What type of acrylic was your tank made from? Mine's cast Acrylite GP and I've been using a credit card in a Kent scraper for 2 years and counting and I only have a couple of scratches here and there. Overall, I'm still happy I went with acrylic.
