Algea under sand and other issues

Hello,

I have a RSM 130 and it's been running since last November so almost a year.

I first had bryopsis which lead to cyano after treating. I then cleaned up the cyano and my tank has been running for about 3 months with no pest algae and coralline beginning to grow.

Anyway, just the past few weeks brown diatoms started appearing again, and now I'm starting to get more cyano starting on the sand bed and lower rocks. I had a plate coral which died so I removed the skeleton as it was growing some algae but even after it's been gone there is still algae.

What also bothers me is the green and red algae growing under my sand which I can see against the glass.

My parameters seem normal, I us ro/di and my skimmer seems to be working great. I change 10% of the water each week. I change my bulbs every 6 months and I change my chemipure elite and purigen every 4 months.

Should I worry about what's under the sand ( I do have a pistol who digs and some snails). Is that affecting the diatoms and cyano? Should I change the water more often for a few weeks?

completely normal. it is cyano. just showing you that there are available nutrients in the substrate, which is what a substrate is for. absorbing P until it can not hold any more.

G~
