All Ohio Swap

If memory serves me correctly Greg did attend last years swap, he was there for only about an hour,he did pay to get in and signed in also, so I would say he did support the club

I believe vendors are hobbies just like the rest of us but they happen to have a store. Why should they be judged just because they make a living off of something they love?

Not sure I follow your post PWS
Who's judging anyone?

And most store owners start out as hobbiest, but most are no longer after living the fish life. It then becomes a job.
Erik

not that it maters but, I grew up with my parents owning a hobby shop. my parents still enjoy their hobby and buisness after 25 year. just becaus you turn your hobby into a profitable(hopefully) business dos not mean you can not enjoy it? that is crazzy!!
your perspective changes for shure, but if you can no longer enjoy your hobby becaus of the business maby you dont enjoy business (most people don't have what it takes to risk it all, and depend on yourself for all of your income) being a businses owner is be verry hard. especialy early on.
so please give these fine vendors a break, quit judging them, all you do is make your fine club look bad.
I am not a club member simply becaus I dont have the time. however, I do support you guys I usualy drop a lot of cash in your raffle at the swap. bashing the fine buisneses that are out there as the foundation of this hobby makes me and probably others wonder if I should keep my monies and go down there to spend it instead

Steve,
Am I missing something? Where is the "bashing" in this thread?

it is constant and on going especialy to one store

my main point is that this is very un-profesional and makes your club look badly to those of us outside of it. Pr is important to all businesses including nonprofits like your club.
If I offended any one with my rant, that was not my intent.

enough said, lets please get on with the swaping.

my post was by no way meant a bashing. no one store was "targeted" by it. steve, how did you get i was talking about 1 store? we only have 1 local coming as of yet. we do have several more in ne ohio. just thought it would be nice to have are lfs attend are local swap, i guess better off left as a thought. as for pr, sounds like you know alot about business, i know little. i would think a show having 200-300+ people who are heavy in to the hobby would be a great way to promote yourself. you tell me. looking forward to seeing everybody there(no bashing intended). sorry to those of you who i offended, or ruined you public relations.

cheelo I was just my $.02 where it may have not belonged I am not offended, and hope you are not as well.

when I was growing up we attended some shows as a dealer and not others. lots of things go into the decision to attend a show, time, cost, stafing of the store and a show at the same time, family events etc... it would be great to see a presence of every store in ne ohio at your swaps, please however cut them some slack it just might be impraticle to attend.

we even sponsered 2 shows a year with 2500+atendance. I know and respect the work you guys do to sponser this sucessfull event. That is one of the reasons why I support your orginization.
Steve,

does anybody have a large bubble coral colony?

Andy (bond007069) had a large nright-green bubble (about softball sized) and I saw a nice sized one at Northcoast Aquatics. I think Andy had $55 on his and Rick wanted around $45.
The one at Rick's place was a peach color and it was about 8" across and extended about 10" from its base. It is one of the larger ones I have seen.

On another note, I was at the Salty Critter this Saturday and there was a LARGE gammer coral colony. I mean it is BIG. I would guess about 12" x 10" for $150 and a large one about 10" x 8" for $99.

Good Luck on your search.

Guess my fingers weren't working too well when I typed that...

"a large nright-green bubble" that's "BRIGHT-green"
and
"there was a LARGE gammer coral colony" that's "HAMMER coral"

Sorry, too late to edit before I got back here and realized it.
