i too would like to know more details about running skimmerless. how long? what do you do for nutrient export? fish load?

very beautiful tank!

do you have a thread somewhere about the tank and husbandry?

yours is the first skimmerless sps tank i have seen here.

(after we moved to another city. Unfortunately i lost 3 very nice colonies and most of my clams)

(few months later, from that moment skimmer was removed (06/2008/)

(and this is the last photo, after 2 months all corals were sold and we moved to another town again, but I made frags from almost every coral. So now my "Home sea" looks rather poor :) )

From the very begining I made bekcet skimmer
( http://www.aqualogo.ru/phpbb2/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=8825 , http://www.aqualogo.ru/phpbb2/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=8826 ), that very soon seemed to be excessively powerfull (system became steril - no plancton, no algae, some corals looked poor )/ And I wanted to make the system as silent as possible.
I think skimmer can be removed after a year , if you see that the system became stable and can bear its usual load :). But I have to confess that I never loaded system very hard after the skimmer was removed. I never had more than 10 fishes ( and I never wanted to have more :) ). For nutriens export only refugium, carbon and purigen are used.

Here are some macro shots of my tank on our russian forum (its my thread) . 3 months ago my Kauderni reproduced successfully, 18 from 20 fries were brought up.

Sorry but I decided to give only the links because the limitation 50 kb is very severe , and nothing can be shown at such pictures.

This is my new 100 Gal Rimless SPS. I've since added new corals but unfortunately my camera died so i have no new pics. The tank here is like a week old and all corals were transferred from my old tank. When the camera is repaired i will update new pictures.

Anyone notice that the tanks with the extremely colorful colors mostly have blue backgrounds? I believe the blue background allows the color on the corals to contrast very strong and stand out in the pictures.

I am with reefsahoy these are pics after about a month but my camera broke so I don't have any updated pics. The tank was setup June 6th 09. It will be predominantly sps when it grows up.

All of the tanks on here are always an inspiration.

Thanks

Thanks, I got some help from Ed Reef on the best looking design for a peninsular tank. I finally borrowed someones camera so I should have a few updated shots soon.
