All-white gorgonian at my LFS!

Hello. I have been a NPS-lurker for some time now. I just dont have the guts to buy one. However, my LFS has an all white "sea fan" that is absolutely stunning! It has full polyp extension, and has been in the store for at least a month. Is this a common color morph? If you may know what it is, would you mind sharing so I can do some more research, as I havent been able to find anything thus far.

Thank you very much for your time,
Xavier

Here is a pic my friend at the LFS sent me

Thanks, I got it to work. Sounds like there isn't much information on them out there. The store is asking 44.99, think it is a decent price?

I have been talking to the owners of the store, and they swear by it being one of the easiest gorgonians to keep alive and well, since I do trust one of their opinions, I am even more tempted to try it. Saw a major lack of polyp extension today though, not sure why.

Hi Harald (friend)

undoubtedly a beautiful animal and I believe that also they can be in other colors: red to orange & brown to yellow.

do you know if they reach big sizes?

Hi my friend.:wavehand:

My Info

Habitat: in 20-40 meters depth, often channels in the reef where an extreme flow prevails. Size over a meter. Colors are described correctly.

Very nice. Are the polyps only on the edges of the arms or is that just the way it shows up on the picture?

If they are on the edges, try and place the coral perpendicular to the flow.

Looks like there are 4 around the branch, or at least 3 per "row". It is getting a lot of flow from both ways, I have it so the powerheads hit it from the side flow (koralia 1050) and from the front on the return gyre.

Maybe it was because I moved it yesterday, but today there was a HUGE feeding response to the Oyster Feast! I was very happy. Every polyp was closed up, and then reopened for seconds and thirds

Nice, try and experiment with larger foods. Start with rotifers and see what it does, if you get a feeding response, try daphnia and so forth. I think being able to offer it its largest food item mixed with the smaller should help it stay healthy and grow. At least that's my theory.
