All you vibrant users out there

Here's a question or two for all the Vibrant users out there.

I have been fighting small patches of Bryopsis using Flucon. I'll do back to back doses, and the tank will remain "bry free" for a few weeks. THen small particles will sprout and grow from there. I will let it go for a month or two, then I redose, and continue the ongoing process. With no end in sight.

Recently, I have also gotten a bunch of bubble algae. Nop clue where that came from, but I am going to tackle that at the same time. Maybe Flucon will tackle it, maybe not.

I typically never dose my aquarium with Vibrant, but am going to try to dose it, in conjunction with flucon, and see what happens.

The flucon will be in the tank for two weeks straight. If I follow the vibrant directions, it states to add 1ml per 10 gallons once a week.

If I do that, how long do I continue to add vibrant to my system? Do I do it once and let it work with the flucon and see what happens? Or do I do it weekly for "how long"? At 17ml per week, I'll fly through this 16oz bottle in no time. (i know, not your problem :) )

Are there some of you that dose vibrant every 2 weeks just to maintain a pretty tank?

Not sure if it's true, but I read somewhere that Vibrant has vinegar in it. I got cyano in my tank after dosing Vibrant, but I was also using NoPox also. Not sure which one or either may have contributed to cyano.

You should get about 27 doses out of the 16 oz bottle. I started with one dose every 4 days for about a month. Then backed down to once a week when I saw it start to work. My tank is 100% hair, bubble, and bryopsis free and has been from about 2 months after starting it. I may be feeding a bit less now but no other maintenance changes.

I've seen similar results as jayball. I started out following the directions. Seeing no adverse effects, I doubled the dose after 2 weeks, and almost tripled it after a month or so. It took about 3 - 4 months, but I am now nuisance algae free. I made no other changes to my system whatsoever so that I could determine for myself if it was doing anything.

Maybe (probably) related, but I did have a serious cyanobacteria issue, easily controlled by manual removal during water changes. I would guess that it was caused by the excess nutrients released from the dying bubble/hair algae. I am now dosing the suggested amount weekly, and I expect that I'll cut back to every two weeks in another month or so if everything stays the same.

I did have to keep on top of cleaning the skimmer cup - it got a workout!

Op, I don't have the answer to your questions but there is a pretty long thread on another forum. Someone from uwc chimes in often.

I will say this, Vibrant is working well for me. After one month of dosing 1 ml per week in my 5 year old 20l I've only had to clean the glass twice, the bubble algae is almost falling off the rocks and all the snot is gone. Even my wife commented on how clean the tank looks.

Vibrant worked really well for my horrible bubble algae problem. I did end up with a really bad Dino issue right after though. But I am really happy with the way it took care of the bubble algae.

Vibrant worked great but now about 6 weeks since my last dose and chaeto still isn't growing. And I wasn't doubling the dose.

I had a mild but persistent bubble algae issue. I started at 1 dose per week. That did kill a few other small algae patches. After a few weeks of 2 doses per week my bubble algae reduced. Its not an over night cure but it did work for me slowly.

Tried it on 2 tanks. Does work but it seems hard on some corals. I could have dosed too much but I did try to follow the directions. Label does say it has vinegar in it also. A very small amount of cyano showed up in both tanks that were cyano free also - it cleared very fast tho.

Tank 1. had some red wire, bryopsis, GHA on rocks I added to the tank. Got rid of all but red wire which continued to grow. water looked incredibly clear next morning. A couple sps looked like they were bleaching also.

Tank 2. had some GHA and 1-2 bubble on new frags I bought. got rid of GHA week 3 but the bubble still there. A couple of many chalices in this tank looked like they started to bleach.
