I am excited because it's literally a minute from my house.the store is in the target plaza 441 and wiles.i usually go to the Tamarac store for hard goods( don't like the upkeep of their tanks for fish or corals) but I am hopeful that with a new store the livestock will be kept in better conditions at least at the beginning.

i knew they were opening soon got a flyer in mail, but didnt know the date, thanks for letting me know it is saturday, ill check it out.

All of the Fish are now being QT for this company by Living Color the Fish Tank Kings Company, since this move things are noticeably improved with health of the fish..... hopefully this will prevail and continue....all fish are being QT for 30 days in treatment for worms and parasites before being brought to the store for sale........2 things that I have observed is 1st health of the products are greatly improved and 2nd choice / selection is not as great (prolly) due to deaths during QT (this should improve with time as they hone their skills with the QT and selection at the QT facility grows)....def a smart company move in my opinion if they can pull this off and make it work why would anyone purchasing retail buy live fish from any other LFS......

My only concern with this new QT procedure is that they are still being added to the tanks that had all the sick and dead fish in them at the stores. Unless every All Pets and All Fish completely emptied out their display tanks, I don't see this as helpful as QTing the fish to just throw them in sick tanks. I could be wrong, but the guy I talked to at the Pines store told me they have kept their tanks the same, only the incoming fish QT is what is new. So I am still skeptical about buying their fish unless I can get there and buy them before they introduce them into the store tanks.

Well, imo.. some qt is better than no qt. If a treated fish goes into an untreated tank, he has a good chance of making vs the untreated fish going into the untreated tank. But I still understand and agree with what the cowboy is talking about. The all fish in pines has in store signs talking about their qt system but then more than half of the fish looked sick in the displays. I think liveaquaria has the retail qt thing down. Others should try and follow.

http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/general.cfm?general_pagesid=425 I dont mind paying extra when a fish has gone thru that process.

My thoughts exactly, I just purchased a Mckosker wrasse from live aquaria divers Den. I had called live aquaria approximately 1 week ago and they had my fish in the regular offerings but when I told the woman that I did not have a QT she advised waiting until the fish was available through divers and because of their quarantine process. My fish arrived alive and healthy and is presently swimming around in my tank

As for all fish I agree some QT is better than none. However being so close to my house I'm hoping that if I need any live stock in the future I may be able to get them before they are released into their displays. That especially applies to corals as the ones at the Tamarack store don't seem to do well when once placed into their tanks

copper is being introduced into the store systems to clean out and then it will be a matter of time before the new turn over system of QT is working to perfection .....cowboy stick to broke back lololo James we will be taking a tour of the QT facilities coming up with FMAS

exactly some at the moment is better than all the other LFS that do nothing....and again this is a process that will take time and this discussion started out about an LFS not an online only service but I do agree they are one of the better purchases for live

purchasing any live item sight unseen before it is even acclimated would not be a wise thing to do

But according to them they have always ran copper in their systems and still had crappy livestock, to put it in nicer terms. I am just very skeptical of that place since it is the only LFS I have 100% death rate on every fish I have ever bought from any of their stores.

I never buy anything from AllFish most of their prices are just redic.....

and you have an LFS that is not ridiculous priced ....please tell us the LFS that is local that just has killer prices......lol if you have any true experience purchasing at LFS's you should quickly realize the live prices are almost exactly double the wholesale price and all the LFS's visit the same 4 or so wholesalers unless transshipping them in and even then its still around that same marked price 2xwholesale

but you havent QT'd at home James at least not in the past .....lol....I do agree its hard to buy things local anywhere and not have it just be a 50/50 chance of survival without proper prep steps once you get them home....

and even then there is so many things that will bring down almost a whole system within weeks just take a look at what I have lost from getting cheto from a few very nice well established systems.....that was the only change in my setup with the exception of a few leopard wrasses ALL from live aquaria which 2 out of the 3 are still alive....

And I didn't with any from the other LFS and yet they are all still alive and happy. Don't get me wrong, I am happy they are finally fixing their problems, but it is still unlikely I buy fish from them anytime soon.

lol your fooling yourself if you think any of the LFS's get things from this magical wholesaler ...they all shop at the same place

I Disagree. Exotic Aquatics in lauderdale are very very fare with their prices. very close to online prices, and for some intense cheaper. Their owner also said he would price match any LFS if I found something cheaper which he did for me on an RBTA.

You know its bad when there dry goods are more than 20% than most places Ive found. Their livestock prices are killing. For example False Perc Clowns $25 are you serious! I almost every LFS I've been too sells False Percs for $16-20.

lol I know Rob well so anytime you want to compare his prices let me know......... he may give you a good deal but his marked price is 2xwholesale just like everyone else ....keep dreaming
