Unfortunately there are at least three cases of total loss with Kent carbon not list in the batch numbers in Kent's news release. To be safe I'd run it through a poly filter overnight, not in you tank, and see if it turns blue.
It may be just fine and seems like it can be tested. I'm not against Kent, at least not yet, as I've always used their Tech-M for Mg supplement. I would assume or at least hope they are still researching just how wide spread it is and coordinating with a legal team before saying anything else or taking any other actions. Which is totally reasonable for any company. Its what comes out of this 6 months to a year down the line that will determine their level of customer care vs. Big business concerns as they are a subset of central pet.
