I purchased 2 false percs from 2 different LFS 2weeks ago, according to the LFS's they had been in the tanks "BY THEMSELVES" for over a month.
I have them in QT, and from the time they were put in together they never left each others side and never showed any sign of aggression too each other.
will this afternoon i found EGGS, and yes i know what they look like i've seen pictures in books and here on RC plus my neighbor has kept FOWLR and clownfish for 15+ years so it has been verified. they probably wont surive since i currently don'thave time and
i'm leaving this eveing for two weeks in KAUAI and my neighbor will be taking over the QT for me and he also wont have the time to maintain them when they hatch.
So maybe next time...

I just wanted to let you know don't believe everything you read...
well maybe just in this case.

All my levels are fine nothing high or low with water temp at 80
I checked it with my kit than my neighbor used his Salfert and we came up with the same numbers.

leaving for the airport now! I'll be checking responses.

What did you read that was wrong. There's lots of possibilities here, depending on what you have read - one mature female and a developing male, infertile eggs.

how long have they been together now?

D-Rod, what you described is nothing unheard of. Maybe its a little out of the ordinary to not see any aggression and already have eggs. Other than that like Anemone said, one was probably a mature female and the other a developing male. Got lucky there by not getting two females.

Wrong!!!

I got an update from my QT sitter and almost EVERY EGG HAS MOVEMENT in it and ready to hatch, the proud parents are hard at work...too bad they won't survive!

it is however beauitful here on Kauai
too bad i have only 4 more days left on my Vacation. :(

i'll pay my respects to my Percs when i get home:sad1:

Not sure what or where you were reading/hearing stuff but:

A. ocellaris have been known to lay eggs in the shipping containers, during acclimation, etc. If they are well cared for you'll have much better batches of eggs to work with in a month or two.

Not worth spending time on this clutch, wait until they are settled into the target environment, try to get them breeding on tiles/pvc/flower pots/etc, get some rotifers going, and have some fun raising some babies.

Good information here:

Enjoy Kauai, one of my favorite islands :>)
