Since I posted I was getting back in the hobby I've working on gathering equipment, building a stand and all that good stuff. I am really close to water, actually getting some today to start mixing. I hope to have it filled over the weekend. Here are some pics.....

Thanks!

I'm trying to keep cost down, so I went with dry rock to start with. Once I get it up and running I will add some live rock to hopefully get some coraline going and pass along some beneficial bacteria.

I like it so far, we'll see how it turns out.

Hey Jimmy, Ill give some cured pieces if you want to get it kick started.

Just let me know,

Paul.

The rocks are from reefrocks.net. I'm pretty happy with them so far. They stacked easily and are very porous, lots of holes.

I just remembered how much I hate installing baffles in a sump. I'm just not good with the silicone.

Yes its a 40 breeder, not to big and not to small. I got it at Petco when they had the $1 per gallon sale. I drilled it using the gl*******s 700gph kit and painted the back black with Krylon fushion flat black. The system will have a 20g sump also.

.......and we have water! I dont have enough to put the sump into use yet, but I will fix that tomorrow.

I received my light fixture today. Its a 36" Current Outer Orbit. It has 4 t5 bulbs, 2 150w halides and blue/white leds for lunar lighting. I will change out the t5s later for a bluer look, but for now the current bulbs will work and I wont be using the halides anytime soon anyway. I

With just the t5s on

Quick update; the tank has cycled, thanks to Paul and the starter live rock. It is currently in the full blown diatoms stage, gotta love the brown stuff. Hopefully the chaeto from Greg will help fight it some.
