Since I posted I was getting back in the hobby I've working on gathering equipment, building a stand and all that good stuff. I am really close to water, actually getting some today to start mixing. I hope to have it filled over the weekend. Here are some pics.....
I'm trying to keep cost down, so I went with dry rock to start with. Once I get it up and running I will add some live rock to hopefully get some coraline going and pass along some beneficial bacteria.
Yes its a 40 breeder, not to big and not to small. I got it at Petco when they had the $1 per gallon sale. I drilled it using the gl*******s 700gph kit and painted the back black with Krylon fushion flat black. The system will have a 20g sump also.
I received my light fixture today. Its a 36" Current Outer Orbit. It has 4 t5 bulbs, 2 150w halides and blue/white leds for lunar lighting. I will change out the t5s later for a bluer look, but for now the current bulbs will work and I wont be using the halides anytime soon anyway. I
Quick update; the tank has cycled, thanks to Paul and the starter live rock. It is currently in the full blown diatoms stage, gotta love the brown stuff. Hopefully the chaeto from Greg will help fight it some.
