Alright, What are you feeding your SPS?Hmmm?

Reef264

Where's The Reef?
What do you feed your SPS Corals, Montis, Acros, Pavona's, Stylo's, all of them. Also, how do you feed it?Syringe?Turkey Baster?Other?DIY?

For me, I have a mixture...

2 Teaspoons of RotiFeast
1 Teaspoon of Oysterfeast
2 Teaspoons of Seachem Photoplankton
20ml of SeaChem Reef Plus Amino Acid

I mix it in a Red Solo cup, and Apply it with the flow off, and with a Medium (6") Syringe.

My Corals really responded when I started mixing it all together, rather than seperately.I feed them 1 time every week.

I mix it up from month to month based on what I feel is working. Lately, I've been feeding PhytoFeast one day, Zeovit Coral Vitalizer the next day and Zeovit Phol's Extra the 3rd day, then I repeat it.

I feed 1/4th the recommended dose on the Zeo products and I feed the minimum on the range provided on the Phyto bottle.

It's crazy how the Zeo products work. For example, the Phol's calls for 1ml per 25g. I end up using 1ml for 100g and the PE goes crazy. Same on the Coral Vitalizer and I only use one drop. When I first got the Zeo products, I dosed per the bottle and ended up with hair algae so you need to go slow with these especially if you are not running full zeo.

Sorry to interrupt, does sps needed to feed frequently? I didn't start to feed my sps since my reef tank established in March 2011. Any effect would show if I start to feed them?

No they don't need to be feed but some people do. I add zooplankton and now elos amino acids and pro skimmer.

While certainly a number of people believe sps don't need to be fed, in my experience, it is important to do so. A ways back, when I wasn't feeding, mine got more and more pale and eventually some died. I do not like the pastel, ULNS look. I started feeding and color started returning in a week and growth took off again. Check my website if you'd like to see what well fed corals look like.

I currently feed one or more of RotiFeast, OysterFeast, Reef Chili and Coral Frenzy once or twice a week.

I recently obtained a container of SPS Coral Grow. It isn't available anymore, but I swear my SPS have seemed to explode with growth. Color seems quite better also. I feed every other day with about 1/2 tsp. I have a Blueberry Gorgonia in my tank and it is actually growing since I started using it. I hope I can find a suitable replacement when I run out, which won't be for a while.

Nice photos. Was wishing you had a FTS on your website.

What time in your light cycle are you feeding your corals.

I fed live brine shrimp nauplii when I had more free time and the acros and stylos loved it. You could watch them actually catch and consume them.

So are you guys feeding at night(no lights) or during the day (some or full on lights)? Main sump pumps off for how long? when do you start to filter and skim the food out?

I laughed at the "red solo cup" that song is so stupid! I feed my tank 2-3 times per week with rods food like gasman. It feeds my whole tank and doesnt seem to raise nutrient levels too much. I also vodka dose to keep levels down.

It just felt right, The real color of the cup is Camo lol

Good topic. I've always wondered what other ppl were doing. I drop a couple drops on oyster feast in a couple nights per week. It sounds like maybe i'm underfeeding though from what others have posted. I've always been really hesitant about using to much of the oyster feast. Everyone has told me a little goes a long way with it. The bottle says 1 tsp per 100 gallons daily, but that seems like a ton.
